Happy Monday. 😊
Guess what? I got a bit of good news today. 😊
Well… at least it’s mostly good news.
Apparently, I’ve been calculating my sales tax payments incorrectly for… well… since I started my business! I’ve been reporting the whole amount I’ve collected, including taxes, instead of reporting the amount I collected before taxes. Which means that I’ve been getting double taxed! 😬
So why is that good news? Because the state of Arkansas will let me go back and make corrections up to 36 months ago! That’s 36 months’ worth of the doubled taxes back in my pocket! 😁
I’m guessing… hoping… it’ll average out to be something like a $100/month that I get back, which would put me around $3,000-$4000 better off than I am at the moment!
Yee haw!!! I’ll take it! 😁😁😁
The “mostly” good part about it is the part that says I have to go back through 36 months worth of finance records and re-do the numbers to remove the sales tax from them, so I can resubmit them without the included sales tax. That’ll be a lot of work, but hopefully maybe 30 minutes per month… 18 hours to get a few thousand back? That might be being optimistic, but… maybe you can cross a few fingers or toes for me.
Either way, strap in! As they say in Arkansas, “Imma” get the keyboard churnin’!
What else… It’s been a pretty decent day, all in all. My tech did 4.2 jobs for me. I got this tax thing figured out. I got the rocks off the dirt next to the garage, so grass/weeds/whatever can start to grow there. Still have a bit more to do there. I also have to get the rocks cleaned up off where it’s started to wash right before the upper speed bump before you head down our long driveway.
What else… I got the spare tire holder fixed in the Durango, so that makes it safer and gives me more room to have my equipment inside, at least until I get myself another work vehicle.
On a different note… My sweet tooth has been complaining a bit. 10:17 p.m. at night means I should be rotting my teeth away with Twizzlers Pull ‘N Peel, gummy worms, and more, and watching episode after episode of some TV show or another on Prime. But… none of the junk food is in the house. Not even ice cream.
My poor sweet tooth!!!
Who am I kidding. Sweet teeth!!! All of ’em crave it!!!
And that other addiction? You know, sometimes it really sucks to be a guy. I mean… really.
Anyway, I chatted with my brother Richard today about the oil crash and whatnot. I should probably be a bit more diversified in my investments. I’m not at all right now. I’d like to get into other things, but I just haven’t done it. Gotta figure that out. If I had been prepared two weeks ago when the market hit the bottom, I’d probably be very well set for the future right now.
I’d also like to get into real estate. And I’ve always been interested in getting into the day-trading gig. But… I don’t want to focus on money. I just want to get a decent stream of income in that will allow me to get my nonprofit off the ground and up and going without threat of going under from lack of funding.
Anyway, there you go. Not much to tell. I’ve got True Grit (John Wayne version) getting ready to finish up, and I’ve got a to-do list a mile long… and… well…
Gratitude!
#1. I’m grateful to have figured out that sales tax thingy. Wahoo. 😊
#2. I’m grateful to slowly be getting the yard improved. Biggest hurdle to deal with seems to be the rain. It just… wow. There’s so much of it with Arkansas storms (oh, I love love love love them). We had a pretty good one again today, poured down on my while I was trying to clean out and organize the Durango after running around like a crazy guy just throwing stuff back in without putting each thing back in its proper place.
Anyway… tangent. This is supposed to be gratitude #2. Whoops.
Yard improvement!
#3. I’m grateful to have been able to stay home all day. Sure I did plenty of work while at home, but it was nice to be home and not running around.
#4. I’m grateful for the beautiful weather. It was gorgeous today. It was sunny and the perfect temperature most of the day. Then it gave that brief but beautiful thunder storm.
#5. I’m grateful to feel like I’m starting to be making headway in some positive directions. I’m gonna fill out my to-do list tonight. I seem to be at my most productive when I’m paying attention to it regularly, so I’ll fill that out and work on getting going.
Anyway, folkses. It’s been another day and a pretty good one. Of course, every day is a good day. It’s just good in different ways.
G’night lovely people. 😊 Lift the world!

p.s. whatever my totals are, add a day to each, assuming I make it through the night.
Those blasted chickens…
Thanks for putting a smile on my face, bro! 🙂 🙂 Great tax news, great weather news, great to get a chance to catch up on at-home stuff! Love and smiles! 🙂
