2020-04-28 — Almost Records

I swear I said I was going to work less.

Didn’t I?

Well, I didn’t get to bed until 2 a.m. this morning because I was getting everything organized for the crazy day that today was. Then I was up early doing the same thing–texting probably 20 different customers this morning before even heading out for the day. 😶

It was a day of ups and downs. We were primed to break my record for the most money made in a day as a shop, but we had a number of things go sideways, so I had settle for a really good day instead of a record-breaking day.

Poor me. 🙄

And it’s just like me to be disappointed. 🙃

Fortunately, it really was a good day in a number of respects. We helped people. We made money. We didn’t die (tornado watch, and I got caught out in it trying to get a job done before the storm rolled in.

I didn’t make it.

I ended up soaking wet from head to toe.

Man… Arkansas storms! I know I repeat myself 7000 times a week, but I love them. Love love love love them. Hopefully, one day I’ll have a significant other I can enjoy them with. I’ve wanted that for some time now, someone to sit with and cuddle with on a padded porch swing as it just dumps buckets. And also someone to run around with and be a little crazy with as it all comes down.

Aaaaaaanyway…

So, yeah. Good day. That’s what matters. We’re poised for another one tomorrow. I think I have 9 cars on the schedule, not counting what’s going to come in. We may well break my daily record tomorrow. We’ll see. We are poised to break my monthly record. We did 111 cars in February. That was a 29-day February. Tomorrow will be the 29th day of the month, and we’ve done 104 cars so far, so we’re on target to break the record 😁.

(If you can’t tell and didn’t already know, I was always a numbers kid. Ever since I was a little child, I’ve loved numbers. Sports stats kept me riveted. I’d pour over player stats on tens of thousands of baseball cards I had in my possession. So… as cold and as unfeeling as it sounds, my brain turns the Covid-19 stuff into numbers and stats, almost like a game. I have to remind myself that the numbers are actually suffering and dying people and not just numbers and records that are being broken each day.)

Anyway, a numbers brain. That’s what I have for sure.

So… I’ve dried off from my head-to-tow soak. I was wet enough after a minute of Arkansas downpour that I might as well have jumped in a pool. 🙃

If you’re not from around here, you might be tempted to think I’m exaggerating.

Nope.

It’s nutty.

Okay, that’s enough of my gushing about Arkansas rain. Moving on…

I’ve not been very good at writing my daily top three things. And do you know what? Correspondingly, I haven’t been getting the really important things done.

Imagine that.

Can’t imagine there’s a correlation there at all. I mean, I’m so focused on the most important things all the time. How could I possibly get sidetracked into less important minutia, or such ridiculous things as working too much. 🙃

Right? What crazy person would ever work too much?!?!

Aaaaaaaaaaand… GRATITUDE!

#1. I’m grateful that I was able to get myself going this morning. I wasn’t very psyched about things last night, more stressed out than anything, but I got going this morning, and it was a long, hard, good day.

#2. I’m grateful that though I didn’t take care of myself very well today (eating and drinking wise), I’m okay at the moment. I’ve had a bit to eat. I need to get more to drink before I go to bed, but my three frozen burritos are sitting in my stomach like rocks right now, so… I’ll probably wait another 20 or 30 minutes before drinking a small pond.

#3. I’m grateful that I was able to get this computer that I’m writing on. I bought it a few months ago for a whopping $60 from someone in Fayetteville, and it was an absolute steal. It’s a great computer. It was in basically mint physical condition. The keyboard has some issues (I have to press hard to get some keys to register sometimes, but a $60 Lenovo Ideapad P500 that, aside from the keyboard being less than cooperative sometimes, feels like a brand new computer, I’m happy. That means I can have my other computer as my full-time music studio computer, so I can actually play my MIDI keyboard.

#4. I’m grateful to have a mechanic right now and for things to be working out fairly well at the moment with him. It makes such a difference having someone who knows what he’s doing… such a difference. I’m grateful that I was able to express my gratitude to him for the work he’s been doing for me and that my fears appear to have been mostly unfounded.

#5. I’m grateful to be clean still. Give me a moment to go look at my totals… Okay, 23, 31, 22. Not too bad. The journal is the easiest out of those. Candy/sugar the second easiest. Sex addition the hardest, but I’ve got y’all, so I’m still going strong. Not counting the chickens, though.

Well, my lovelies… Another day has passed and gone, and it’s time for me to organize the day tomorrow and get things squared away and get some sleep. 10:40 p.m.

Yes, I recognize that exercise hasn’t started yet 😬. Gotta fix that. I’m just so busy, not getting enough rest. Makes it hard to get the exercise groove on. If I had a gym and a workout partner, that would be great.

Buuuuuuut… I’d still struggle to go when business is like this.

I’m back to nodding off. I’ve fallen asleep a couple times writing this, I think.

Buenas noches, peeps.

Lift the World.
