Hiya, Peeps!
Happy end of regular weekend and beginning of long weekend (for all who are taking the day off tomorrow. I… am not)!
Are you surprised? I didn’t even take today off, really (Not that I really ever do. I take calls and make schedules on Sundays, so my mechanic and I have work to do on Mondays (mobile work is very much a today-or-tomorrow business. You don’t keep many customers if you schedule more than a day out. You even lose a lot if you can’t get them today. They just go down the list and call the next guy until they find someone who can help them that day.)
Anyway, I had that leftover job from last night. I slept in until about, what, 8 maybe? Then paperwork, then that job (it was a crank, no start. Fuel gauge wasn’t working right, so they ran out of gas).
Then I spent a good chunk of the day getting my new phone ready for tomorrow. The experimental cell phone case came today, and I did some surgery to uncover the headphone jack and the camera flash, and positive news: The Alcatel 7 case is gonna work! I have a 94% functional case. The only thing that’s not working (and it’s not working well at all) is the volume down button. Most of the time, it just presses the power button, so I have to use a workaround for that, but I’m not worried.
Also! The reception is better! I tested it all over the place up here, in my room, in the basement, out by the mailbox, and the worst that happened was a few little split-second reception crackles while down in the basement. It survived the hollow by the mailboxes 100% clear. With my previous phones, the mailbox is a dead zone. People stop hearing me when I pull up to check the mail. But… it did fabulously!
As you can tell, I spent a lot of time getting my phone ready for tomorrow. In addition to checking out the reception modifying the case, I also put on protective glass over the front, and I modified the belt case, removing the belt clip, and making it so I can slide the phone and case into the belt case, and have a fully protected phone screen when I’m not looking stuff up.
So… I’m quite hopeful right now. The big kicker will be if it starts to do the freezing up thing that my other phone have been doing. I’m hoping not.
I’m falling asleep. I’ve nodded off at least twice already. Gonna finish this, eat some PB&J, and crash.
#1. I’m grateful for the internet that allows me to look up things like how to diagnose my ulnar nerve issues (it’s abundantly clear that I have cubital tunnel syndrome). So, I’m getting more serious about getting it taken care of. One surgeon/doc/whatever outlines the steps: #1. Rest. #2. NSAIDs. #3. Ergonomic modification. #4. Night brace. #5. Surgery.
I’d like to avoid surgery, so I’m actively trying to do the other things to minimize the risk of surgery. Cross your fingers.
#2. I’m grateful that I was able to get the car figured out quickly today, so it wasn’t a long, drawn out job on my day off.
#3. I’m grateful that my phone appears to be working for now. It’s a better size, I think, than my last one. It apparently has better reception. It has some nice functions, like shake to turn the flashlight on (I use my flashlight all the time). I hope the screen-freezing issue is now a thing of the past. Cross your fingers.
#4. I’m grateful to have had at least a slower day, if not a day off.
#5. I’m grateful that I might, just might, get to bed at midnightish. It’ll likely be 12:30, but that’s better than what it’s been lately. Cross your fingers.
Well, my lovelies. It’s time for bed. It’s 11:54, and I still have a PB&J sandwich to make and eat, and some water to drink in the hopes that I’ll manage to stave off my condition getting the better of me.
Lift the World.
