Hola, peeps! 😊
Happy Tuesday. 😁
Guess what? I think I’m three straight days, not just with no premeditated cursing, but none period. That’s pretty good, if I do say so myself, given some of the things that have happened over the last few days (my gloomy, discouraging Sunday, T-Mobile’s face palm yesterday, and the last starter job of the evening [had to remove the whole exhaust system to get the starter out, making the 1.5-hour job take nearly 4 hours on a back road in Farmington, AR with the road chewing my back into ribbons]).
So… I think that’s pretty awesome (the no cursing progress). 😊
Not only that, but today showed that there was no need for me to be concerned about the workload this week. Though we lost who knows how many jobs yesterday with T-Mobile down, today was swarming with people and calls. We did 8 cars today. My tech did 3 (one really big one), and I did 5 (mostly smaller jobs), and in addition to those 8, we’ve got another… I think 8-10 more on the schedule for tomorrow already. We’ve even got a few for Friday and one for Saturday already, so we’re back to being super busy. And things could get crazy, depending on how tomorrow goes (waiting to hear back on one bigger job [he’s price shopping]).
You know, I didn’t get home until after 10 tonight, nearly 11, but I did make some progress today in saying “no.” I told people I didn’t have time, that we were booked up, and that it would have to be tomorrow, and I actually didn’t lose too many jobs because of that today. Most people went ahead and scheduled for tomorrow, so that was great. So, though it seems like a step back because of the hour, it was actually a step forward. The last job I did was actually supposed to be David’s, but there were some complications, so I ended up doing it. There would have been one more for me, a begging woman that I relented on, but that job got bumped to tomorrow anyway, despite my relenting earlier, because I didn’t get done with that crazy starter job until after 10, I think it was.
Anyway, so… progress: No cursing and more effective job scheduling with customers. Lots of good stuff there. 😊
Unfortunately with the good comes a little bit of not as good. I hammered my body today, not eating or drinking enough. I tried. I drank over a gallon of water, but it still wasn’t enough in the hot summer heat. I only had a couple of cans of Spaghetti-o’s, so that was just straight neglect, there. I was fine until that last job, but that one kicked my but hardcore. I should have stopped to eat first.
My dehydration and lack of nutrition were bad enough that I am substituting today’s run for Saturday (I did go out last night after all, so I’m still able to defer until then). Let’s see… after I got home, I ate a bowl of granola and plain yogurt and a pound of strawberries (yes, I’m tempting fate. Apparently, my mom is allergic to strawberries and gets a rash on the inside of her elbows when she eats them. I ate two pounds of them the other day and ended up with a nasty rash on the inside of my elbows, so I’m thinking… genetics bites again. We’ll see. I ate one pound today, so I’ll be on the lookout to see how it affects me.
Drove all over creation today. Out by Beaver Lake (front-end diagnosis), then up into Seligman, MO (no start diagnosis that turned into my inaugural use of my battery charger and replacing an alternator in a 97 Lexus LS400). Then Rogers (2007 Hyundai Entourage overheating because of cracked radiator), then Springdale (belt replacement), then Farmington (no start diagnosis, starter replacement), then home (dinner, journal, bed).
Mucho drivingo.
But I got a good bit done today, and it was a very good money day. Yesterday was even a decent money day, even with being a short day.
Well… it’s nearly 12:30, and It’s gonna be a busy day tomorrow, so I’d better settle off to bed.
#1. I’m grateful that I was able to finish the belt job in Springdale just as the clouds split and the storm came gushing down.
#2. I’m grateful that the rain was ended by the time I got to the starter job in Farmington. It was already a nasty nasty job, so all the nicer that it was dry.
#3. I’m grateful to have a full cupboard/pantry again. Nice to have the various food options.
#4. I’m grateful it was a really good money day today.
#5. I’m grateful that what seemed like it might be a come-back job was actually a different problem, and we were able to get them squared away quite quickly (I arranging things on the phone, and my tech getting it all taken care of rather easily).
Well, my peeps. I’m gonna go to bed now. I’m wiped.
Lift the World.

Hola Stephen,
I’m back from the wasteland of not much connectivity that is Ocean Shores. Hopefully I’ll catch up on your posts soon. It was supposed to be a relaxing, school is almost out, I can work from my phone sort of visit and turned out to be a hassle of running around trying to find enough connectivity to work from my phone and do a zoom staff meeting that I’d forgotten about and to get it all sorted out in the nick of time only to discover that I’d completely stood up the hoof trimmer for our first trim appointment today… 😦 😦 😦 No way to get there from Ocean Shores in time. 😦 Anyway, we’re back. Three more days of school including 5th grade “promotion” where I get to stand outside and wave for 3 hrs as 5th graders dive out of their cars one at a time and collect goody bags from their teachers. I can do it. By the way, you’ve done great on your swearing and I just paid Hans $20 as an estimate to cover the last 4-5 days. I think the estimate is quite low… 😦 😦 Ah well… Congratulations!
I’ll take a page out of your blog and say –
I’m grateful our friend Ingrid could bail us out for the trim appointment, though I won’t feel easy about it until I can make it right with her and the trimmer.
I’m grateful that we had lovely weather while we were gone.
I’m grateful our garden appears to be still standing and the unplanted plants appear to be still alive.
I’m grateful for Hans’ patience.
I’m grateful for Mom’s piano.
I’m grateful that new days can bring brighter feelings.
I’m grateful to have a home to come home to – a refuge of peace and quiet.
Yay, for Hans! Yay, for Mom’s piano! And all the other wonderful things 🙂 Sounds like an adventure. Yeah… amazing how the lack of internet and cell phone connection is so crippling nowadays.
Hi Stephen!
I’m grateful for electricity after a wild night and a 3-hour power outage.
I’m happy for all the blessings you are receiving, if I may phrase it that way. You are blessed with good desires, strength to persevere, success in your goals, and the ability to see good. Joy and peace to you, today. You continue to be an inspiration to me. Many thanks.
Sounds like quite the night! What caused the outage?
