Hi, Lovelies, happy almost Sunday! 🙂
So, my little drive didn’t go quite as I’d hoped.
About 3:30 am, and not close to home at all, my rear right brake set up locked up, ground the pad down to the metal and then ground the metal a bit as well.
I got out, diagnosed it. Spent the night right where it was, and limped it to the nearest Auto parts store in the morning. What I found was that people who had done the brake jobs in the past had not greased the caliper guide pins, so one of them had seized up completely and locked up the brakes on that side.
so I replace the caliper bracket, the destroyed rotor, the brake pads on both sides, and then I decided to check the front brakes, and they were completely worn out as well, so I replace the front brake pads in addition to all the stuff in the rear.
Interestingly, what I had thought was probably a bad master cylinder was caused by that bad guide pin. I’m not sure how that happened or how it’s even possible, but what I thought was a bad master cylinder was fixed once I fixed the brake issue in the rear.
So my Civic broke down, and I was finally able to get it back on the road about 10:30 or so. But I wasn’t the only one who had a breakdown today. John’s work truck broke down as well, and then his back up van broke down while he was trying to get parts for his work truck.
So, the end result of the day was that not a single customer car got fixed 😬, and I bought John a starter for his van oh, so he could at least get that fixed, have a vehicle, and be ready for Monday.
Do you know what was nice, though? None of any of that bothered me really at all. I had a peaceful happy day. 🙂
So, there you go. I’m pretty hammered right now. After last night and the night before, getting perhaps a total of six or seven hours sleep between the two, I’m ready to go to bed right now. It’s midnight, and I’m going to crash.
#1. I’m grateful that I was able to getting my Civic fixed relatively quickly in that it was able to get me where I needed to go without any further difficulties.
#2. I’m grateful that I was able to help David by getting him a starter for his van.
#3. I’m grateful to be able to sleep right now and to not have a time that I have to wake up.
#4. I’m grateful to have been able to be happy and at peace through challenging circumstances today.
#5. I’m grateful I had the tools with me to take care of my Civic today.
To be better…
#1. Get more sleep.
Lift the World
What a great adventure! And keeping it chill 🙂
