2020-10-19 — Try Try Again

Hello, mon amiguitos!

All this memorizing has me seeing today’s date as chapter and first (1st Nephi 10:19). 🙃

Anyway, another good day on this side of the y’all line. I couldn’t fall asleep last night, so my plans for a 5 a.m. wake up involved a 30 minute snooze after the 5:00 alarm went off, so… I slept in until 5:30, which I’m still happy with (but I will be trying for 5 again tomorrow… try try again!). I didn’t want to start another week short on sleep, especially one where I knew it could be easier to choose stress instead of faith (perhaps out of just pure habit as much as anything else). I think it was good to sleep.

I got up, and David texted me about 7:30 as he usually does, and I had to relay the not-so-pleasant news that we didn’t have anything at all on the schedule for the day.

Around 10 a.m., after not a single person had called (which is not normal for a Monday morning at all), I called my buddy Miguel to see if he had any jobs that might need to be done that David could go do for him, and what do you know? He did! He ended up working for about 3 1/2 hours over there, and that was it, but I paid him a full day’s pay, and I was grateful. Prayers answered. and it was a big help to Miguel as well! He had some stuff that the mechanics that were there couldn’t do, and he was out of town and couldn’t do it himself. On top of that, I had a battery job way out by the lake that, aside from the hour or more of drive time, only took 10 minutes, and with the generous tip, netted me $145. So… that was nice.

Thanks, for the positive vibes and prayers. It feels good to be able to help David’s family. It’s really important to me that they have what they need.

What else… I worked a little bit on the introduction to the book I’m working on. I did a good bit of relaxing today. I’m still working on my hymn for the day. Should have that done in the next little while, but it’s 8:56, and I’m off to bed in… well… pretty much now.

#1. I’m grateful that calls finally started to come in later this morning and that we have a full day scheduled for tomorrow, and other jobs are starting to be scheduled for the rest of the week. That’s fabulous. Cross your fingers. Hopefully, this little slow spell is coming to an end.

#2. I’m grateful that I was able to make some progress on my book. It’s all about the nature of God as I understand him (and our nature as well). My tentative title is “That They Might Know Thee” (from John 17:3).

#3. I’m grateful that I’m making more and more progress on getting things whipped into shape around here. Hopefully, the house will be such that my mother, who’s exhausted herself taking care of all the stuff with the sale of the family home, won’t be overwhelmed with a mountain of things that need urgent attention when she gets home.

#4. I’m grateful that my mother will get to meet my friend Cory tomorrow! So fun! I love it when my friends get to meet my mama. She’s the bestest.

#5. I’m grateful to have been able to fight off the several thoughts that tried to disturb my peace today. I could feel some of them worming their ways in, and they were making little bits of progress, but I’ve banished them again, and they can go sit in the corner and think about what they’ve done.

#6. I’m grateful to my mother or getting my state sales tax stuff done for me again. Sooooo nice to be able to offload some of the weight of running this business. Very grateful.

Well, my lovelies, another good day in the books. Loves and hugs to you.

Lift the World.

p.s. By way of accountability, I think I’ve got… 16 days clean from porn right now? Lots of progress on hymns and scriptures. Progress on the trench I’m carving out. Progress on the basement. Progress on the garage. Progress on the food storage project. Just… lots of progress. 🥳
