2020-12-28 — Like the Old Days

Hola, folkses,

Hope y’all have had… growing days. ๐Ÿ˜Š

I’m… late. It’s 11:22 p.m. I didn’t get home until after 10, and I only just barely finished scheduling for tomorrow. I got somewhere around 40 phone calls today ๐Ÿ˜ถ. I guess that means the Christmas slowdown is over? ๐Ÿ™ƒ

So… yeah… I’m exhausted. My eyes are closing on me. I did 5ish cars myself today, and didn’t even start the first one until like 2:40. David did 4ish, and it… feels like the old days (lots and lots and lots of work. Running around like a crazy guy, and… yeah… onward it goes).

I’ve got like… 16 potential cars on the schedule for tomorrow? ๐Ÿ˜ถ

Yikes. Hope I can get everyone taken care of. Gonna be nutty. Maye we’ll break some records. Haven’t done that for a while.

Bummed that the car I should have bought was already sold. I was about 90% ready to buy it today. I should have. It was a crazy good deal–crazy good. I’m pretty bummed. My bad, though. I should have snatched it up.

Oh well. More deals will come along. That one was just super good. Don’t get many of those.

Anyway…

#1. I’m grateful to have been able to make some progress on the trails today. Mom helped out, and we pushed through some more of the thicker undergrowth. Another couple hundred yards or so, and we’ll have a pretty darn good section of the woods roughed in and pretty much walkable.

Awesome. I’ll give Liz a tour of it once we’re at that point.

#2. I’m grateful that though I’m up later and worked a lot more than I wanted to and probably should have, it was a really good money day, and that’s nice.

#3. I’m grateful that I was able to get the Scion TC figured out. My last car went a little sideways. The lower alternator bolt was seized on there so badly that it snapped. It was in a super challenging place to get to, and it took an hour or so to figure out a way to get the alternator out with a busted bolt. I ended up disassembling the alternator itself, to some degree, and that freed it up to come out.

#4. I’m grateful that I happened to have the perfect bolt to replace the busted one, and it was I think the first bolt I grabbed when I looked at my bolt pile. Pretty. Freakin’. Awesome.

#5. I’m grateful things are humming again. Nice to have more than enough work for David. I hope the weather holds out. It’s supposed to be a bit rainy tomorrow, I think. Crossing fingers it’s not. It’s a big day.

Well… 11:37. About to crash…
