2021-01-20 — Come in Pairs

Hey, folks,

Ditto, repeat, clone, reprise, duplicated… whatever you want to call it. Today was yesterday… mostly.

It took me 5 1/2 hours of madness (everything going wrong that could go wrong) today before I finally just broke down again, not as badly as yesterday, but it… ugh.

Eight hours after I started working on it this morning, I handed the keys back to the owner for hopefully the last time with a “I don’t have a clue what’s going on. I’m stumped. Best to take it to the dealer from here. All the parts are on. It won’t take a charge. I have no clue why. I’ve spent 10 hours trying to figure out why. I’m clueless.”

Then… when I finally got out to go to the next job about 3, it started raining (which wasn’t in the forecast), so I was on the ground in the water and the cold for the fuel tank job, (another eternal job) that’s been dragging out, and that one’s not done again either. I ran into still more issues there, the fuel lines so rusty that the connectors wouldn’t fit on correctly. I spent a good while scraping the rust off those. The battle continued for trying to figure out the fuel tank/pump issues. I think it’s just the wrong pump in the tank.

Oh… and the pump retaining ring is so rusty it won’t hold the pump in the tank.

Yeah…

On and on and on…

When it rains…

So… yeah… it’s been a couple really tough days over here.

Oh yeah… and David called in sick this morning with a busy day already, and… Did I mention on and on and on and on? I earned a Ph.D today, piled higher and deeper.

🙃

Oh, and my blood sugar tested in pre-diabetes range this morning though it’s been fine during my tests since eating breakfast this morning.

I’m tired. It’s 9:11.

#1. I’m grateful that the AC job people gave me the whole amount, even though I didn’t charge them for the recharge part, they still paid me as though I’d done the recharge part.

#2. I’m grateful to be moving on, even though it’s not really… done. Funny thing is, one of the symptoms stopped being an issue one the way to deliver the vehicle to them. Just up and started working.

Yeah. Ridiculous. 😶

#3. I’m grateful to have relatively warm gloves that work relatively well to work on cars with. And they’re cheap. $10.

#4. I’m grateful that though I did finally crack again today, I did pretty well, honestly. David calling in, the Traverse being… perverse. I still did much better than in the past, I think? Obviously, I have a long ways to go, but these descents into… whatever I descend into… are happening after hours upon hours of things just going ridiculously badly to the point of ludicrousness. So… that’s something, at least.

#5. I’m grateful that I have lots of customers. I appreciate that.
