Happy birthday, to my wonderful mother. π
…
Funny how I say I’m gonna head one direction, and what nearly always happens is that I end up going the other at an even faster pace. π
I say I’m going to work less. I say I’m going to transition to humanitarian/peace work. But what do I do? I slide back into the working 80-100 hours a week routine I was in for so long.
Right. π
It’s not that I’ve changed my mind: It’s just that things are so busy and I’m not even remotely prepared for the other, so I’m still flying along with this mechanic business solito.
And I said I’m taking a financial hit, but… I don’t know if I’m taking much of one because of how many hours I’m working and because I’m the one doing all the work, so I’m getting all the money from the jobs, and… for the last three days (after the week and a half of crazy ridiculously terribleness), I’ve been rolling along rather well.
I even took a 3+ hour break mid day today to go look at a dump truck I was interested in buying and then to go look at a house I was interested in buying (the house needed to be moved. It was dirt cheap. Great condition. Just $5k. 1400 sq ft. It was simply that they wanted the land and not the house on it.
The dump truck was a good price, but it was more of a project than I need to get myself into right now, and the house sold while I was looking at the dump truck.
π₯
I’m bummed about the house. I’d done some research about moving it, and it was going to be a really good opportunity, I think. But… no dice, unfortunately. I was maybe a couple hours too late.
Sad for me.
Oh well. Life goes on. There will be other opportunities. π
It was shaping up to be an absolutely nuts day, but I ended up rescheduling some things to tomorrow, so tomorrow will be the absolutely nuts day. π If I get it all done tomorrow… it’ll be like… 12 billable hours? I’d break a record for most I’ve personally done in a day, that’s for sure. I don’t know if I’ve ever even cracked nine in one day before, so… wish me luck!
Today it was a diag of an NPR that was stranded on the side of the road. He had a bad alternator, so I took it out for him showed him how to put it back in, and sent him out to get his battery charged and to find the alternator. Then it was putting an alternator in a Kia Sorento, then looking at the dump truck, then it was a diag and a repair of an ’09 Ford Escape, and finally a starter in a 2006 Honda Civic. Tomorrow it’s…
#1. Fuel pump (likely) in 2006 Ford Ranger
#2. Coolant hoses in 1999 Silverado.
#3. Rear brake shoes 1994 Buick.
#4. Starter, Ford F350
#5. Radiator 2007 Chevy Tahoe
#6. Starter 2006 Honda Civic (another one).
Just shy of 12 billable hours. πΆ
That would… be amazing. Let’s see what I can do, eh?
Thought of the Day: βFocussing your life solely on making a buck shows a certain poverty of ambition. It asks too little of yourself. Because itβs only when you hitch your wagon to something larger than yourself that you realize your true potential.βΒ β Barack Obama
