2021-02-17 — And A Little Closer to Earth

I think I’m mostly back down to earth at this point, but… changed. I’m different than I was, but I obviously have a ways to go. 🙃

I was quicker to frustration today (an interaction with my mom that turned out better than it normally does, which included some good growth on my part bust still a long way to go on my part to not even get frustrated. So… apologies to my poor mother. Got frustrated at my rear wheel drive truck trying to move around in 6 inches of snow.

Not so successful, though I managed to get it down to the mailbox and back up the driveway. I spent probably… 5 or six hours clearing about a 340-foot section of our driveway (the steep part) over the last two days. That was the most important part. It’s actually the top part where I was getting stuck. I wouldn’t have had the slightest prayer making it up the steep part, so I’m glad I dug it out.

Anyway, I spent a good chunk of the day doing that.

Don’t roll your eyes too much… but… Take Stephen, add being snowed in (mostly), add internet access, add it being car auction day and… well…

Yeah. You’ve already done the math.

At least one new car and possibly two. 😶 The for sure one is a 2015 Nissan Sentra with some pretty minor front-end damage. Run and drive. Shouldn’t be too bad? Lots of miles… 131k, but it’s like $2950, so… shouldn’t be too bad? The other one I’m still waiting on. I’m obligated to buy it, but I didn’t reach the buyer’s desired price, so they have until 8 p.m. tomorrow to decide whether or not they’re willing to let it go for the price I bid (I’d be paying about $1650 for it… 2011 Nissan Versa 4 Door hatch back with 122k miles. Supposedly nothing wrong with it but… you never know, right?

Anyway, that’s pretty much the day. Shout out to my friend Brittani. It’s her birthday today, and she woke up to snow this morning, one of her favorite things in the world, which was a cool birthday present from Captain Universe.

And Cory… goodness, they got nearly a foot!

We got another 3 inches, which is why I had to shovel the driveway again.

Anyway… I’ rambling… Good day. Time for bed. 8:45 p.m.

#1. I’m grateful that I at least got my truck back into place. It’s got power steering issues, and the coolant was low… so… it’s got issues. Not sure what they are, but it definitely has some issues. Hoping it’s not head gasket related, but at least it’s parked and not stuck in the snowy driveway or slid down into the yard, from whence there is no return with the snow everywhere. 🙃

#2. I’m grateful that we’re warm.

#3. I’m grateful the temperature was again high enough to work outside for a while without any issues. I think the high was around 20 today. So that was nice. Tomorrow is gonna be even a tad warmer, I think. Low tonight will be 8. Tomorrow will creep up to 25. Not so quick to the frostbite. 🙂

#4. I’m grateful that I had the courage today to walk my frustration back and to make amends with mom right there instead of a few hours later, as it usually happens.

#5. I’m grateful that I’m finding myself more willing to do the things I don’t want to do because they’re right to do.

#6. I’m grateful to be 18 days clean.

Sorry… this is probably pretty disjointed. I’m only about 30% present while I’m writing this. A bajillion things running through my mind. 🙃
