I think all that time off, watching money fly out the doors and windows without almost any influx has me a little more focused on financial matters?
Honestly, I don’t know. I know that I’d said I was only going to schedule like 4 billable hours a day, and here I am working just as hard and as long as ever.
That thing I mentioned about making a commitment and then finding myself doing worse than before the commitmet.
Yeah…
Anyway, another long day today. 5 cars. Didn’t even start the first until 3 p.m. ish. Parts supplier just… yeah… that poor AutoZone store is a mess. I don’t know how they can struggle so much (the Rogers store). They didn’t have my parts picked when I went to pick them up. The older gentleman didn’t have a clue what he was doing (we’re all new at something at times, so I get that), but since they hadn’t picked the parts already, it was only after waiting maybe 20-30 minutes for them to get their act together that I was told they didn’t even have the part. Something I could have known quite a while previously and saved quite a bit of time. Instead, I wasted an hour of a very packed day, because the Rogers AutoZone can’t get their junk together.
Sorry, I’m not as frustrated as that probably sounds. It was certainly annoying, but it wasn’t the end of the world, of course, just a pain.
So yeah… radiator, pre-purchase inspection, sway bar bushings, no start diagnosis and repair (starter), and AC refrigerant evacuation and belt jimmy rigging. That was the day.
Oh, I fixed our lawnmower this morning, figuring out why the mower wouldn’t go into drive or reverse (grass had built up enough under the ebrake lever that it had permanently set the e-brake on (basically forced neutral by taking the tension off drive belt). I also sharpened the three deck blades, sharp enough to cut my finger, so… they’re certainly sharp. 🙃
That was pretty much the day. Cold weather blowin’ in. The wind has been gusting. The temperature dropping significantly. We’ll see what happens.
#1. I’m grateful to have so many jobs that are pretty straightforward. I’m turning down the sketchy stuff, the too-far-away stuff, so I’ve just ben doing mostly straightforward, parts-changer jobs.
#2. I’m grateful to be able to go to bed. I’m so so so so tired right now.
I’m nodding off…
#3. I’m grateful that I’ve passed a year now of everyday journal entries. As much as I’ve been all over the place with so many things, there’s a little constant. 😊
#4. I’m grateful that I had warm clothes with me today when the wind started kicking up and the temperature began to drop.
#5. It was supposed to rain today. I’m glad it didn’t where I was. There were plenty of clouds, and it certainly threatened, but nothing came of it.
Hope y’all have a beautiful night.
Lift the World.
