Worked too long today. Probably should have stopped after the first car, but I did two more, and the last two took a long time. Didn’t get home until about 12:15 a.m.
First car was a radiator fan in a 2017 Infiniti QX60. Second was an electrical issue that I couldn’t figure out without sound a bunch more costly troubleshooting. Last car was an alternator in a 2012 Grand Caravan.
That’s pretty much all I’ve done today. I called/texted lots of people to keep in touch.
#1. I’m grateful I was able to figure out a super quick way (comparatively) to remove the Infiniti radiator fans. Those are normally long jobs, but I figured out how to do it on probably a third the time today, and even figured out how to do it while leaving the battery connected, which is a big deal with these because if you disconnect the battery, you have to reprogram a bunch of stuff (which is stupid, but that’s modern cars for you).
#2. I’m grateful I was able to get the dash trim off the Savana today without breaking it. That’s the hardest instrument cluster I’ve ever had to take out. I guess that’s one good thing about the hot weather… Less likely to break plastic parts because they’re more flexible.
#3. I’m grateful the dealer had the radiator fan in stock when the aftermarket fan was bad out of the box.
#4. I’m grateful I was able to get the alternator torqued ok. I bought a really expensive torque wrench that I’ve been really disappointed with, but I managed to use it today.
#5. I’m grateful to be done with that Savana. It’s been on my list for weeks.
#6. I’m grateful to have had food and water with me. I think I’m still pretty behind, but I’m better than I would be if I hadn’t eaten *anything*.
#7. I’m grateful I figured out where the missing bolt went. It was super dark outside. I didn’t have my headlamp with me, so it was all by the light of cell phone for this last job I did, and when he was about to drive off, I noticed a leftover bolt. In 4 1/2 years, I’ve not had a leftover bolt a single time with a customer’s car, and my heart sank, but after a few minutes, I saw where it went. Wahoo!
#8. I’m grateful that it looks like I’ve got another equipment rental job coming up here. Sweet! But sure how big a job, but something. 🙂
#9. I’m grateful I can write my entry on my phone. It’s not as convenient, but it works. Still have to figure out my computer situation.
Full work day tomorrow. Gonna be busy busy busy, but I’m still easing up a bit (though that probably sounds funny after a long day today. 🙃)
Thanks, for your support. 🙂
Loves and hugs.
