Well… another day in the books. Made good progress on tax stuff, really good progress. So that’s something.
The Sonata from last night that I ran into issues with ended up giving me more fits today without even getting to the car.
Both alternators tested good, so there’s something wrong with the car’s electrical… computer… something. So… I get to go back and put the alternator back on for free… second installation for free…
At least the AutoZone manager was willing to accept the return of the part without damaging it out. I would have eaten something like $270 in addition to the hours of lost time.
Oh well. Can’t win ’em all. Bound to have cars like this here and there.
I’m sending her to the dealer once I put the alternator back in. Not gonna get dragged down a rabbit hole. Just gonna cut my losses and move on to the next one. Win some… lose some.
First car today was a loss as well, but it helped me realize something–no more AC work as a mobile guy. Those jobs pretty much always take longer than they should–a lot longer.
So… when I’m swamped all the time, no sense holding onto jobs that will cost me money.
So anyway, that was the first job, finishing the AC job on that 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe. Fortunately, I was able to take it to Miguel’s shop and have him do it for me. I paid him $100 to do it, but at least it’s out of my hair and done right.
So… I lost money on that one. Well, technically I made maybe $25, but definitely lost money because it took like 2 hours to make those $25.
Yeah… no more AC work.
On the bright side, I did a battery job on the way to Miguel’s shop, so I made at least something on the drive through Bella Vista.
Last car was a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt no start. Had a bad starter. Replaced it super quickly. Like 30 minutes. I was stupid, though… worked without jack stands with the car jacked up on grass.
Called it a day after three cars even though I have a million on the schedule. I was just… done.
Came home, started the garden on fire for my mom to burn the weeds down, put in another order for grocery delivery, and made a pretty good dent in the tax prep stuff for 2021.
Progress. Good progress.
Still struggling. More so today. Anger and resentment are growing inside me.
Poisons.
