Had a bit of a surprise today. As I drove away early this morning (trying to get out before the road was impassable with the road work going on), I was thinking that I’d set myself a goal to break another record today or at least have a super good day. I was energized by last Saturday’s record-breaking effort, and I thought maybe I’d go for a big haul again today.
But almost as quickly as the thought cam in, I was like, “There’s no way. I don’t have the schedule for it. I’m not gonna have a huge day.”
But then… things just started… falling into place, and by the time the day was over, I’d had the second biggest day I’ve ever had, second only to this last Saturday. Surprise!!! And in one respect, it was actually the biggest! If you take tips out of it, I think today was actually a bigger tips-removed day than Saturday was! I think? Maybe not. I don’t know. I still got tips today ($135 worth), but not like Saturday, which was eye-popping. 😶
Either way, it was my second biggest day ever. 😊 And with my two biggest days ever being two of the three work days so far in October, we’re on a tear. October 1st was abysmal, but the 2nd and 4th have been stunningly good. Never would’ve guessed.
I even finished at about 9 p.m. today after the last job just absolutely kicked my tail.
One major difference to Saturday: It’s now 1 a.m., and still haven’t bought another car. 🙃 (not for lack of trying, though 😁. I’ve been looking at cars, trucks, dump trucks, dump trailers, property, freezers, etc.
But… nothing quite catching my fancy that I’m ready to jump on. Might have a dump truck that seems pretty good. Not sure.
First job today was a starter on an ’08 HHR, but they also needed an oil pressure switch, so I left that one, went and did a battery job, picked up an oil pressure switch, came back and finished up the job there. They also have a van that needs help, so I’ll get that taken care of here end of the week, I think.
So that was the first and second jobs.
Third job was an alternator and belt in the Lowell McDonald’s parking lot. 2011 Malibu. Fourth job was a no start that turned out to be a battery replacement in a 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe. Fifth car was a 2018 Toyota Tacoma that needed a battery cable connect and a battery, and the last car that kicked my butt and had half of Fayetteville wondering what drunken sailor managed to get this far inland, and also managed to mash my hand enough to royally anger the nerve in my finger.
Ugh.
2006 Ford Focus alternator. The belt was a nightmare for one person. In hind site, I should have tracked someone down to help. It was awful. And having worked on it last week, it took lots of trial and error to remember exactly the sequence of reassembly of the convoluted ridiculousness that Ford calls it’s engine design (I’m never gonna understand why they put an electrical motor/generator right next to the hottest part of the whole car (catalytic converter). It’s just… 🤷♂️
Go figure.
So there are all sorts of shields and spacers and brackets and junk that have to come off, but they have to be done in a specific order, and I forgot that order with a full weekend having passed since the last time I worked on the car.
Anyway, it’s done now, though. Had that not kicked my butt so much, I might have pushed harder to try and break Saturday’s record, but alas. ‘Twas not to be.
I didn’t eat all day. Well, one apple. I get so focused I don’t think about it. Not so good right now because I’m shedding weight like nothing. I’m in the low 160s now. 😬 I might stuff myself when I get home, but it’s not enough.
Must. Eat. More.
Anyway, another day that just… rocked on the productivity front. Yee haw! 😁
Tired. Ready for bed. Wish I could find some land to buy that I was excited about. That would be cool.
Anyway, there you go. Loves and hugs to all y’all.
G’night!
Lift the World.
