2021-10-23 — Mmmm… Sunday. πŸ™ƒ

Nice to be back at Sunday. 😊

Rest, my boy, rest.

It’s been a different week, finding me not feeling well, fighting being over the edge, struggling to get back into the swing of work after taking so much time off to try and get taxes done (which still need to get done), and not doing very well emotionally (quite possible related to the over-the-edge issues.

Anyway, I’m grateful for Sunday rest day.

Four cars today. First one, gentleman tried to put in a starter, but ran into troubles. Couldn’t get it out (it was a pain in the butt). He got two bolts out, but lost them, and he couldn’t get the third one out. I think he broke the starter trying to get it out. Got the new one in only to find that it wasn’t the starter. He had a connection issue (battery positive cable connections were not getting a good connection, so I wire brushed the heck out of them, and bada bing bada boom–started.

Second car was pre-purchase inspection on a 1961 Thunderbird. Cool car. Third job was a no start on a 2014 Honda Accord (yep, you guessed it, 4 cylinder starter bad). So I pulled the starter (O’reilly’s junk), put in another, and the young lady was good to go. She told me that the next time she calls me, I’d better not be fixing cars anymore–saying life’s too short to not be doing what you love (I’d told her about the nonprofit stuff I want to do and the things I believe in).

Fourth (and last job) was a coolant leak/overheating problem on a 2005 Dodge Ram with the 5.9 Cummins diesel motor in it. Turned out to be a leaking water pump. Had to go to two stores to get a pump that was acceptable (first one had a little bit of play in the bearing, which AutoZone is known for, unfortunately). Got that one done. 6+ billable hours today on a short day because I didn’t even start working until after 11, I think. Done about 8:30. Slowed down a good bit by the water pump job, the two stores and troubles getting the air out of the engine when refilling.

Well, folks. It’s after 2. I’m ready for bed.

g’night all.
