2021-12-13 — All Over Creation

Howdy, folks! It’s been a little bit of a lot today–all over creation but… not?

I didn’t sleep well last night, brain too active to fall asleep easily, but I did some meditation, and that quieted the brain and got me to sleep faster than if I hadn’t, I think. Woke up at some point in the middle of the night, and the brain got moving again and got my wide awake. I think I tried to fall back asleep but without meditation, and I was a lot less successful in that effort.

Woke up around 6:30 or 7 for good. Still not back on track, but that’s ok. I’ll get there.

I woke up a little discouraged and down. Not sure why. I think because I worry I’m still wasting my life, like this phonetic project isn’t a place I should be putting energy. Every time I’ve worked on it in the past, I’ve felt like I shouldn’t, but after 40 years of following those feelings and finding myself where I am, I’m… experimenting. It’s a passion, I’m gonna follow the road and see where it leads, but I think that fear, coupled with negative perspectives about what I’m trying to do were a little bit of a downer, but that’s ok.

Anyway, I got up and started setting up our Christmas tree this morning. I got it up and put together (the fake kind). Didn’t get any lights or ornaments on it at that point, but I got it up. πŸ₯³

I think I worked on tax stuff a bit after that. I can’t remember. The morning is a blur. πŸ™ƒ

Went to my appointment with the hip surgeon. They took some x-rays and weren’t really concerned. They gave me some instructions for some physical therapy and suggested ibuprofen and to let it just run its course.

It was funny, the doctor came in with my x-ray on his screen, and you know when they x-ray the hip they get… well the other parts in that area, right? So when he flipped his phone screen around to show me the joint gaps, the first thing I saw was… my junk. πŸ™ƒπŸ˜‚

It was funny. To me. I didn’t laugh in the doctor’s presence, but it was funny, and I do laugh thinking about it again as I write this.

I decided to go home after that, still dragging pretty good and also needing to be home to sign for a package that was supposed to be delivered today, so I came home and waited and waited, only to have the update come in the evening that delivery was being bumped until tomorrow.

Lovely. πŸ™ƒ

Fortunately, I didn’t want to fix cars anyway today, so it was fine, but I have to figure out what to do about tomorrow, because I do need to go fix cars tomorrow.

Oh, I stopped by Harbor Freight and bought some tools I’ve needed. I also got in touch with a business sales broker to start the process of trying to sell my business. We’ll see how that goes?

It’s starting to get pretty real. πŸ™‚

Then I went home. I finalized a deal with a programming team to build my website/transliteration tool. It’ll be super basic, but it’ll be what I need to get this all started. So that’s going now. The payments are in escrow, and there are 5 stages of the development–each of which I’ll sign off on before the funds are transferred, so… yeah… this is getting real, too!

What else… Lots more tax paperwork. Trying to push and push and push through. So much still to do, but making good progress. Put lights on and decorated our Christmas tree and spent the evening with the big screen playing a fire loop and Christmas music while I did more tax stuff. 😊

Got so many things going right now.

The welder is coming tomorrow to look at the dozer. The parts for the Sentra should come tomorrow. I’ve got a young man from Columbia who’s interested in being a mechanic who’s going to do a ride along with me tomorrow.

I’ve got to get my programmers a beta version of the phonetic dictionary tomorrow.

I’m swimming. πŸ™ƒ

So. Much. Going. On.

At least business has been slow. I chatted with another long-time mobile mechanic that covers part of the area I also cover, and they said it’s slower than it’s been in years. Guessing inflation is catching up to people a bit. Certainly is hitting hard.

Well, I need to run. Thanks, for reading, hanging with me. Hope your days are merry and bright, as the saying goes. 😊

Love to all.

Lift the World.

  1. Hola, Stephen…. Catching up on your blog. Been sick for almost two weeks. Beginning to get better – malaise finally reduced, but lungs still pretty bogged down… anyway… I’m so excited that you’re doing this phonetic project. It can do so much good for… everybody! New readers, readers with disabilities, English language learners, etc. So much good!
Regarding the young man interested in becoming a mechanic… I don’t suppose you could help him straighten out his legal status and hire him on? I have no idea how hard it is or isn’t to straighten out legal status but there must be a way… ? I know you have a million projects on your plate…
Well, I’m heading for bed. Still totally wiped out. But glad to reconnect… Love you, brother…

    1. Unfortunately, there’s not anything i can do to help him. He came on a tourist visa and didn’t go back even he should have. Based on my past experience, he’s gonna have to go back to his home country and wait another five years before he can reapply to come over. At least, last time i had friends who did what he did, that was the requirement. Either that or marry an American, I think.
