The darkest day. From here until June 20th, the days will get longer and longer.
Been an interesting one. After running into so many red flags with my welder, I called another one a neighbor recommended. He offered to drive from a city a few cities south of us and do it for free even though he knew he was almost certainly not going to take the job.
When he came out, he confirmed my concerns. The welder I hired didn’t really know what he was doing. 😕 Things he should have known that I figured out in five minutes myself on Google… The welds looked awful. He was taking forever to do anything.
The welder who came (who’s been a welder for 40 years) looked at the dozer tranny, and it wasn’t two seconds before he said “sell it.” We then talked for probably the next 20 or 30 minutes. He talked about the issues with what the welder I’d hired had done. He tried not to be too critical, but it was clear, the guy I hired just… didn’t have a clue.
In fact, he actually did more damage to the dozer. 😕
So… I told the guy I’d hired not to come over, and then I told him that I was not going to go forward with him. I paid him the rest of the money I owed him. Total was $1251. Ouch. But… I’m actually relieved in a way. I was watching what was happening, and… I was afraid I was going to pay him thousands more, burning money, and now… I know I won’t be. So… relief.
Two and a half cars today. 2003 Cavalier Running rough in Fayetteville. Was a car I’d been to a month ago or something like that. Had a slipped timing chain. Well… I went back because it was dying and having a hard time starting. They’d had the timing chain replaced. Well… I’m guessing they didn’t do it right because it was a very similar sound, like they put the chain in incorrectly or it jumped from improper installation.
Second car was a no start… loose battery cable. Third one was replacing a mangled ignition lock assembly, the leftovers of a theft. I didn’t get the job done because I was missing the breakaway bolts. So… that’ll be done… sometime next week.
Then… it was home… and… well… I’m procrastinating. Have so much I need to do. A bit overwhelmed.
Good night, folks.
Lift the World.
