Maybe you can cross your fingers for me. 🙂
I just finished going through all the financial numbers and everything for my 2020 taxes. If I’m not forgetting anything (my brain is mush and not working still), then all I need to do is go through all the notes I wrote for my accountant and make sure I noted everything down properly. I’m going to go through those tomorrow, and then I’ll send off 2020 to my accountant.
Crossing fingers. How awesome would it be to finish 2020 tomorrow!!!
Anyway… today! Let’s see. Slept in until about 8 ish, a little after, I think… breakfast and four cars, I think. First one was a 2009 Ford Flex with a coolant leak. They thought it happened when the ran over a big chunk of concrete, but that was just a coincidence. The heater hose assembly that I guess had been leaking previously finally split more and was leaking very quickly.
Man, it was a beast to get the assembly off. Crazy spider web of hoses and plastic connectors all molded into one piece, the clamps were just the right size to not work with my special clamps tool and placed just such that they were a nightmare to get to. Ended up having to take the intake manifold off to get to one of them. And of course, old hoses are a beast to get off, as they sort of… oxidize themselves to the metal? Not sure what chemical process it is, but they stick on so tightly, that sometimes you have to cut them off, and today was my lucky day there. I had to cut multiple ends off (six ends in the blasted spider web, and I had to cut off… 3 of them? 4? But the ends that go into the heater core sit flush tight against the firewall, way back in there, so even cutting them off is a feat in and of itself. Would have been easy with a scalpel, but what mechanic carries a scalpel?
Maybe this one will. 🙃
Anyway, after two sailoring hours, I had the hose assembly cut off and in many pieces.
Good grief.
Second car was supposed to just be a battery job and a tire air up, but I got there, and they’d given me the wrong battery at the parts supplier, so I went back to the parts supplier, and I picked up another one, only to realize that one was the wrong one as well.
(yeah… day not going so well at this point).
Finally got the right battery, installed it, got the tire aired up, and got it done.
Third car was a 2009 Honda CR-V that had a locked up AC compressor. He wanted to do the job himself, but he needed help because the system needed to be evacuated of the refrigerant first, and he was a law-abiding, earth-loving person who wasn’t just going to vent the crap into the atmosphere.
🥳🥳
So I went by and evacuated the refrigerant out of his AC system and walked him through his options and what he’d need to do to repair it from there.
Missed out on a belt job and some other easy stuff because I was late communicating with one customer and not close enough for another. Oh well. Not that I’m lacking jobs.
Last job was a long-time customer that smashed their front bumper and grille. They wanted to see if I could make it presentable without actually repairing anything, and I was able to with a little fenagling and some zip ties. I let them know it’s just temporary, but it could last a long time for them. Hopefully, it will. They’re pretty hard up for money, so I gave them a discount.
Came home. Worked on finances. Ate food, and here I am ready to climb into bed. I’ve been invited again to the spelling society’s online get together tomorrow morning, though not as the featured attendee as I was last time. They’ve got someone from England, I think, as the featured attendee this time.
I’m not keeping up with my programmers like i need to. I’ve got some really important stuff I need to finish so they can get going (e.g. choosing an alphabetical order for the new alphabet–39 characters instead of 26. Guess we’ll need a new song, but I’ll still have it start with A and end with Z. It’ll just have… some additions. 🙃 Programmers can’t build the reverse transliteration dictionary unless I’ve got it in alphabetical order, and I can’t put it in alphabetical order if I don’t know what the order is. 🙃
If I get 2020 tax stuff done tomorrow, though, I’ll have more time to devote to it, as I will no longer be behind and can do 2021 at a more… steady pace.
Hope y’all enjoyed your Friday.
Love to all y’all.
Lift the World.
