Holar, folks. π
Not much to report today. Got up late after being up late (just like tonight). The winter thunderstorm had rolled in, freezing sleet/rain along with thunder. It was pretty cool, honestly. Don’t see that very often, and thunder winter storm.
The driveway is frozen, trapping us on the hill again this year. Funny, first few years here we never even came close to being snowed in. Now it’s happened two years in a row.
I like it, though.
It’s a crusty, snowy, icy, almost tundra thing going on. The “snow” is so stiff and strong that you can walk on it without falling through. One not-so-nice thing, however. This time being snowed we’re missing a bit of a modern quasi necessity. Our internet went out and then was spotty for much of the day. Not only that, but my cell connection was spotty, too. The combination of the three (internet issues, cell coverage issues, and frozenness made for a much less productive day than I anticipated. I was expecting to make a bunch of progress on my 2021 finances with the day off, but I didn’t make as much as I’d hoped.
Being so close to the end of the dark tunnel, I wasn’t really ready to just take a day off. I wanted to push through and get this stuff done, be free again; so I tried to make as much progress as I could with my finances and other projects.
In the periods of time that the internet was working, I printed out the receipts I didn’t have physical copies off and sorted and filed them. I got all my Amazon purchases downloaded and sorted, and I started getting the data plugged into the sheet I’ll send to my accountant. I talked to the AutoZone regional commercial manager about all the receipts of transactions that didn’t appear in my statements. It’s about $1300 worth that I’ll owe them because of a fault in their system, it appears. Not so happy for me, but perhaps I’ll have found a glitch in their system that will help them.
What else… I managed to get the bumper cover at least somewhat back on my Nissan Sentra. I’m probably gonna spend a couple more hours on it and then just sell it as is and get it gone. An hour in assembly and an hour cleaning it–something like that.
I’m so so so close to having everything figured out for 2021. Barring weirdness, I’ll be done by my self-given Monday deadline.
Keep them fingers crossed, please. π
So… almost 2 a.m. Was supposed to be much warmer tomorrow, but the forecast was in error, and it’s still gonna be super cold. Even Saturday, which was supposed to get back to the low 50s, I think? won’t even get up to 40. It’s not a huge deal, but I promised some repairs this weekend before Sunday, and it’s gonna be miserable for that now with it staying as cold as it is. I’ve got a really really long alternator job on a 2009 Nissan Murano. It’s gonna be a beast, honestly. The 3.5 motor’s alternator is a nightmare, and that much worse in the Murano. In the Maxima, it’s like a 2.5 hour job, and a pain in the butt. In the Murano, it’s a 4-hour job, and… a bigger pain in the butt. π
Can’t wait for electric cars to take over… won’t be too much longer. They’ll be safer and more reliable with so much less to have to worry about!
Of course, the world is… in a bit of a tough spot right now. Amazing to me how much damage one person can do. I hope that freedom wins out and that dictators fail and fall.
And I hope for peace.
But we can’t afford to fall into the trap that if we’re nice to people they’ll be nice back.
For most of the people on this planet, that’s probably true, but it isn’t for all.
What an interesting time we live in. And what a reminder to me of how lucky I am to have lived 40 years of amazing prosperity and peace and comfort.
Love to all y’all.
Lift the World.
