I slept a bit more today, which was a welcome change. I’m gonna sleep a bit more again tonight. It’s just after 10:30, and I’m about to crash.
A little update on today. I tentatively have the bulldozer sold. The gentleman is coming tomorrow to try to get it started and loaded up.
Slowly… slowly we’re getting the list of projects whittled down. Crossing fingers that everything will go well tomorrow, and that the dozer will be gone, done, and that they gentleman will be happy.
Tired.
Three cars today. A water pump and radiator job for a 2004 Jeep Wrangler. Had to modify the new radiator because it was not correctly designed. Took an hour or so longer than it should have because of it. Second car was a prepurchase inspection of a 2007 Jeep Wrangler for someone three hours away. Turned out to need a lot, so he decided not to buy it, which was smart. Third job was a car that had gone though like 4 belts in just a couple years or so. He’d had people try to figure it out but to no avail to this point. I headed over there (not knowing that multiple others had already failed to figure it out).
When I got there, I noticed that the belt was worn out in such a way that it looked like it had been getting worn through on a frozen pulley. But… the pulleys were all fine. It wasn’t until I went to put the belt back on that I noticed the real problem–the belt that was on it was too long–just barely. So what was happening was that the crank pully was yanking on a slightly loose belt and was rubbing the belt through, spinning sometimes without the belt moving, which was cutting it/wearing it through.
I looked up the various belts and found that the belt they had on it was 87 1/4 inches but should have been 85.5, I believe, or a max of 86.5. So… he’s going to call the dealer on Monday to find out if his is the Sport model or the regular. If it’s regular, he needs the 85.5 belt. If it’s the Sport, it needs the 86.5.
Glad i figured it out.
Then I went home, fixed our lawnmower (wasn’t going forward or in reverse, and that was because the main drive belt had popped off on pulley, so there was no tension, so it wasn’t able to power anything. Once figured out, I fixed it and then mowed about a third-ish of the yard.
It’s 10:46. It’s time for bed. I’m tired.
Good night.
