2022-04-29 — After Another

Ugh. It’s been a rough day today. Not sure why it was so bad. I guess it was carryover from yesterday? I don’t know.

Work was slow again, which is odd, given the time of year. Guess inflation has been hitting people hard. Can’t think of any real other reason. Calls picked up in the afternoon. I had one huge job today and others that I could have done, but the first job was… awful. It was an alternator job in a 2014 Nissan Murano, and I’d recently done an alternator in one of these, but… somehow I forgot how I did it, and I was thinking that I needed to take it out by taking the radiator fan out, so I pulled that out and tried to get the alternator out through that little space, but the valve cover was in the way.

It was a tight fit, and it was awkward, so for a moment, I let the alternator rest between the block and the radiator, pressed slightly against the radiator. After I moved the radiator back into it’s spot, and then out the other side, I saw coolant dripping on the ground, and I realized that there was a little pin hole in the radiator.

You know, I’ve seen radiators smashed in wrecks without rupturing one of the veins. They’re super resilient. I was just… blown away. Somehow it cut the vein. What was the result?

I lost $225ish and another 2 hours or so of my time. Pretty big mistake.

Anyway, I’ve been on a short fuse all day today, and boy was that a nightmare job. 6 1/2 hours. Felt like yesterday. Another wasted day. I think that might have been part of it.

Downloaded the TD Ameritrade trading software program to be ready for when my money is transferred over to them. I want to be prepared and familiar with the platform. It’s got some really good tools, some that are quite an improvement on Fidelity’s setup, tools that’ll make it easier to get in and out of trades, I think. In other ways, it’s quite unfriendly as well.

Hoping it’s a net positive, overall. I guess we’ll see.
