Chose to work today… try to make back some of my losses, and also get customers taken care of that I was supposed to have gotten yesterday. First job was a no start. Took a while to figure it out, as it seemed like a really weird electrical problem that seemed to clearly to be an ignition switch problem, but then… it wasn’t. It actually turned out to be just loose ignition wire at the starter.
Go figure. It was looking like a massive deja vu from yesterday’s electrical fiasco. Gratefully, no, it wasn’t. Simple problem, but a bit of a challenge to figure out.
Then as I was driving away, I noticed fluid on the ground, a lot of fluid by the rear passenger tire. At first, I thought it was just water out the exhaust, but it wasn’t under the tailpipe, and I realized it was brake fluid. 😬 Glad I caught that. Could have killed someone if the brakes had gone out on him while driving.
Brake fluid was coming out of a bolt on the e-brake mechanism. Never seen that before. Weird. Replaced the caliper, and he was on his way.
Next one was supposed to be just a brake pad job, but I got there, and as I was jacking up the truck, I noticed that a brake pad backing plate had been ejected from the caliper… so… it went from just a pads job to pads, rotors, and one caliper (needed the other caliper as well, but he didn’t have the money [already a $1050 dollarish cost]).
Third job was a no start, 2009 Lexus IS250. Turned out to have a shorted fuel pressure sensor, which shut the whole car down, including making it so the scan tool couldn’t connect to the main car computer.
Long day, tired.
Happy Mother’s Day, mama. Thanks, for bein’ my mama.
Love to all.
