Well, the best news of the day is that the junkyard in Oklahoma gave me a full refund for the engine that I bought. I brought it back this morning after a bit of a fight trying to get it loaded into my work van. I was unsuccessful getting it into the work van, which would have been a lot cheaper on fuel. Then just even getting the engine back in place on the wood crate that it came on was a lot more of a challenge than I expected, fighting me a lot of the way.

But I was grateful to get my money back. With so many very poor investments this year, having lost many many many thousands of dollars between the stock market and bad equipment purchases and all that lovely stuff, I’m grateful that I didn’t lose another 3,000 Plus with this..

I drove back from Oklahoma and did one job before going up to Miguel’s shop and hanging out for a bit while I was waiting for a response from somebody in Missouri I was hoping to buy another engine from.

Sometime around 6:00 p.m. the lady in Missouri finally got back to me, so I headed up to Kansas City to look at the engine that she had for sale.

Unfortunately, she failed to disclose additional damage to the motor. Got to admit it’s pretty frustrating when people know that you’re driving for hours to get to what you’re selling and they don’t tell you everything that’s wrong with it. I mean just a quick visual inspection would show significant damage that they didn’t mention at all.

I will have driven I think something like 650 mi today trying to get an engine for my Dodge ram truck. Still empty-handed…

But hey, at least I didn’t buy the engine in Missouri which would have added a lot of stress questioning whether or not it was going to be okay.

I’m trying to reduce the number of stressors I have in my life and not increase them. And buying that engine would increase the stressors because I’d be worried about selling an engine to somebody that might be totally fine, but might also not be totally fine.

Anyway, in other news, Miguel called because he had a customer who wanted to sell his truck after finding out the motor was blown. Miguel’s money was already tied up in other vehicles, so he asked if I was interested in buying the truck and having him do all the work of fixing and selling it, so I said what the heck, let’s do it. So he’s going to finalize the transaction tomorrow morning, and I’m going to sit back and let him do all the work.

I can handle that.

That’s one of the reasons I wanted to save money, was to be able to have money to make money when opportunities arose. Hopefully, this one works out.

If the poor spelling, or odd words, if there are any anyway, hasn’t given it away, I’m dictating this again as I drive home. Hopefully it’s intelligible.

Anyway, that’s been the day. Lots and lots of driving and one job. The job was a coolant leak diagnosis on a 2010 Kia soul. He thought it was going to be a much more challenging repair than it turned out to be. Turned out to just be a bypass hose so that he can probably do himself, so he’s going to give it a try.

Anyway, I wish you all a great evening!
