Well, I think Old Trusty worked again. I wasn’t as dedicated (not by a long shot), but I did do some degree of my artificial fever stuff, and I’m a lot better now. I’m not perfect, but I was actually pretty darn good.
I still chose not to work today, having scheduled for tomorrow. So… it was nice to have another day off.
I spent a little time working on Excel formula stuff to help with my dictionary creation. The pronunciation dictionary I am working with is decent, but… it’s using like an upper mid west dialect instead of the generic one. So… it takes a lot of work to adjust.
In addition to that… it’s hard to figure out how to handle so many situations. R-colored vowels, elision, glottals, voiceless final stops, L-colored vowels, position-based pronunciation… and more. It’s… complicated. 🙃 I probably shouldn’t stress too much over it. We have no official English pronunciation. Different dictionaries disagree. I just want to make one that’s coherent and agrees with itself (It’s funny how the pronunciation of one word, according to the dictionary, is different from another when it has exactly the same sound within it. I’d give an example, but… I don’t want to go looking for one right now.)
Anyway, I’m making progress, but it’s slow. Very slow.
