2022-09-05 — Where the Soul Rests

Mowed the very long lawn. Since it was so long, it took 3 1/2 hours, as there were a large number of places I had to go back over twice.

You know, lawn mowers are so horribly designed. All the blades should be on the outside, in front of the wheels. They’re so inefficient the way they are–wasting so much time and fuel. Not to mention they can’t cut while going in reverse.

Really?!?!

Who designs this stuff?!?!

They make the same style year after year after year, decade after decade after decade. Time to fix the mold, eh? Blades should be on the outside, in front of the wheels. That way the grass is already cut by the time the wheels roll over it, so you never have to worry about the flattened grass not getting cut.

And you should be able to cut in reverse. Even zero-turn mowers aren’t as efficient as they ought to be.

Redesign everything. 🙃

Vacuums, too. I mean… seriously. All upright vacuums be able to suck directly in front of them, so that the stuff that’s right against the wall get sucked up, too. It’s… not a hard engineering issue to resolve and create. Pretty simple, honestly. We just… keep doing the same things year after year after year, decade after decade after decade.

Redesign everything.

Anyway. 🙃

It’s after 1:30. Time for bed. Mowed the yard. Mowed by the mailbox. Mowed the path across the lower pasture to access the deck. Mowed around the package bin. Fixed Liz’s mower (belt came off, and she had two bad deck wheels). Got Liz’s other mower taken care of (deck removed, wasps cleaned out, wheel off so the tire can be replaced).

Helped my mom weed the garden. Looks a lot better now.

Spent a lot of time looking for places to live. So many beautiful places. Nearly all of them in climate areas that are… not my favorite. Absolutely gorgeous land in the northern states.

Really cold winters. And humid.

Beautiful land in the midwest.

Really humid as well. Less cold.

Some gorgeous land in western Washington and Oregon. But… the cost of living… and the taxes… and the restrictions… and the politics…

Nothing really in Utah. 😅 All the sizeable pieces of land I can afford are in the barren desert. Can’t they just sell me the girl scout camp up South Fork canyon for… maybe $500k? Nevermind it’s probably worth many millions. Maybe I can… barter down. 🙃

I might be able to do that. But my soul still gets crushed in town. Doesn’t really matter where in the world. The towns just… suck the life out of me. I long for simple living. I’d love to homestead and live a simple, outdoor life, away from everything.

The problem is, my goals are different. My soul longs for that kind of place and that kind of life, but another part of my soul needs to be out there with people lifting.

I do little bits of it here and there. Helping Liz today with her mowers. Not charging people for helping them with their cars, or giving big discounts–something I do regularly.

Best of both worlds… that’s what I’m searching for. A quiet chunk of land with soul-filling views, but close enough to a population center and good airport to go make the difference I want to make.

Best of both worlds… that is what I seek.

That is what I seek…

Where to go… where to be… Where will both halves of my soul be filled?

I’m looking. I’ll find the place.

Love and hugs.
