2022-09-11 — Check

Somehow, and I’m not really sure exactly how it happened, but somehow, I woke up this morning just… wired to get stuff done. It was like I had a little motor in me that had been switched on, and I was like, “let’s knock a billion things out today.”

So, naturally, I got… sidetracked for 45 minutes. 🙃

But after that, I got my little rear going and went bananas knockin’ stuff out.

  • Loaded my work van with food and water for the coming week.
  • Emailed my accountant about some important stuff.
  • Did the dishes.
  • Cleaned my room
  • Cleaned the bathroom
  • Put a drive belt on my nephew’s car for him
  • Vacuumed down and then charged the AC in my Z4 (I have AC now!!!)
  • Unwrapped the gazillions of lights that were on the deck by the creek that have been on their for years and years and years. (getting it ready for Jim to pressure wash.
  • Weeded everything in front of the garage, everything in all the rose beds, and everything along the kitchen side of the house.
  • Charged all the batteries I use for my power tools.
  • Put the UPS/USPS/FedEX/DHL sign on our package bin.
  • Made a plan for how to take down one of my hills sister’s trees that’s leaning over the fence
  • Helped make a plan for reinforcing the deck that goes out over the creek.
  • Cleaned my room!
  • Did my laundry
  • Organized my business receipts
  • Got fluids ready to take to the recycler

So… yeah… really productive day. 🙃 Nice to have a relatively clean living space. Nice to have some long-time projects taken care of.

Did realize that I’ve got some problems with my dump trailer. Got it all hooked up and loaded up for the first time, and I had issues with the ramp doors (one is not manufactured correctly and is too big. But the worst issue is the trailer brakes aren’t working, which, could have been massively disastrous, as I was trying to drive down my steep gravel driveway with my truck, pulling like 12,000 lbs.

😶

I put the brakes on, going less than a mile an hour, I think, and it slid, and slid… and finally stopped. I wasn’t even on the real sloped part of the driveway at that point.

My e-brake doesn’t work, so I had to hold the truck and the 12k pushing me down the hill simply by putting the truck in park. 😬

Gratefully, the setup stayed locked in place while I unhooked the skid steer and drove it off the trailer. Had I not been able to do that, I’d have either ended up in the ditch with my truck, trailer, and skid steer, or I’d have been flying down the hill at dangerous speeds with all that weight behind me, hoping no one was coming down our driveway, and hoping I could control it enough to not flip and roll the whole works over.

In the end, I got the skid steer off without incident, and I’ll be taking the trailer in again tomorrow for more warranty work.

Not impressed at all with this trailer so far. One more big reminder to always use whatever I buy as soon as I get it, so I know if it’s got issues right away or not. I have a tendency to buy something to be available to use when needed, and then I don’t find out that something has issues until I need it, and by then, it’s past the return/warranty date.

Anyway, crossing my fingers and hoping it’s all simple stuff.

Gonna be an interesting day tomorrow. Busy work day, and possibly big life decisions day.

Love and hugs.
