Was a bit better today at holding my tongue. My full sailor has been on near constant display for… many months now, but I’m working on it, and I’m getting better. A bit more self control today.
So that’s something.
I keep remembering things during the day that I want to write about in my post, but by the time I get to the post, I’ve forgotten. 🙃
Been a super busy day today. Malaki was off (it’s Thursday), and I had a bunch of people call after 7 last night, but I hadn’t heard from Malaki (he’d been debating working today), so I said yes to a bunch, but he didn’t end up working, so I knocked out 7.5 cars today.
Not too bad.
Hyundai Tiburon that had died while driving and then wouldn’t even click after that. I found that it had a lose ignition wire, and horrible battery connections–the handywork of someone who’d “been a mechanic for 30 years.”
Hope I never have to be on the receiving end of his junk other than to clean it up for my own customers.
Good gravy. Boggles my mind what people do and expect to be paid for.
Second car was a VW Jetta that was hard starting, and that turned out to be just a battery, gratefully. So I installed it at her place of work, which she was stoked about, and I gave her a discount, which she was grateful for and then promptly gave it all back and more by giving me a $50 tip. So that was really nice. 😊
I bounced back and forth between three jobs over the next few hours, working on a 2006 Dodge Charger that was starting but dying, finishing up a 2001 F150 that needed a battery and a starter solenoid, and removing the running boards from a Toyota 4Runner. I went to the Charger first, then left with the alternator to get it tested and to buy an oil pressure switch. While out, I went to the F150, where I broke the starter solenoid I’d bought for it (trying to make it work because the plastic molding was in the wrong place on an otherwise correct solenoid, but the plastic exploded when I tried to trim off the offending ridge of plastic). So I bought another one that had the right molding, but while I was gone from that one, I stopped off and pulled the running boards off the 4Runner. 🙃
Then I went back and finished the F150, before heading again to Rogers, where I finished up the Land Rover that’s been because the shipment was delayed. But that one is done-ish now, so that’s nice.
After that, I was thinking I’d head back to the Charger, but I was starting to tire, so I headed to a 2013 Jeep that I figured needed a battery, and it did, so I replaced that. Just as I finished that one up, a young lady with a toddler called because they’d just punctured a tire. I was only 10 minutes away, so I swung by and got them taken care of, giving them $60+ off the normal price for a service call.
Productive car day today. 7 cars.
Malaki and his fiancé spent a good while in the hospital today over concerns about the in-utero baby. Gratefully, looks like baby is gonna be ok.
Time for another Friday!
Gosh I had a few things I wanted to share today… can’t remember… I oughta take notes during the day, so I don’t forget.
It’s past midnight. Time for my rain white noise app.
Love and hugs.
