Hola, folks! Happy weekend to all of you. 😊
It’s been an interesting day today. Things have been so crazy that I’m just sort of pinballing from to-do-list item to to-do-list item, but I’m so scatterbrained with everything I need to do that it’s like my neurons are randomly firing all over but very little is actually getting done.
At least that’s how it feels. 🙃
Today was another day. I worked all day. Malaki ran things today on the car side of things, though I need to chat with him about how things are going, as we’re not on the same page with how things should be going. Should workout fine, though. Just have some things to figure out. I’m creating a contract for us both to sign for while I’m gone, as well as a non-compete document.
I’m actually a lot more confident leaving him to run things than I thought. For a young guy, he’s a really solid person–the kind of person I want representing my business to people, and that’s pretty cool. I know I won’t have him for long because of who he is and the opportunities he’s got coming up, but I’ll be grateful while I have him.
My first job today was a 2014 Nissan Sentra that had a pretty awful sound that sounded to me like a bad tranny. It sounds just… awful. He was strongly considering trading the car in for a brand new BMW, and that might be a good idea (well, I don’t really ever think it’s a good idea to buy a brand new car, but if you’re already gonna do it, then trading in a car like that might be worth it, as they might give him more than the car is worth just to get him into a brand new BMW, and with it potentially having major issues, that could be a big thing for them.
Anyway, I recommended they take it to BMW to see what the trade-in offer would be, and then if it’s fantastic, then go for it since they’re heading that way already. If the offer isn’t fantastic, then I recommended they take it to ANJ Transmission or to the Nissan dealer to have the tranny figured out.
After I finished that job, Stevie called me to tell me that the spider lift he’d just brought to the job and had been at was not powering up.
😬
That wasn’t a fun phone call to receive.
So. Many. Things. Going. On.
I was at the Bentonville AutoZone because nearly $1000 worth of returns didn’t go through, and they’re trying to tell me that some of them went through when they didn’t, so I have to show up with stacks of papers to prove it, and I’m frustrated with that. It’s wasting so much of my time to clean up these issues. Makes me wonder how many of their customers are getting ripped off with refunds not going through.
Anyway, so I was at the AutoZone trying to take care of that. Unfortunately, that wasn’t able to get resolved today, so I’m gonna try and get that taken care of tomorrow.
I’ve also been having continuous issues with my expensive robot phone. Samsung S22… No… still not gonna switch to a fruit phone, but good gravy. And they won’t honor the deal they gave me when I added a new line. So that’s… really not right, honestly. They’re going to refund the phone, but I won’t be allowed to get a deal on another phone. I’ll just have to purchase it outright.
Whatever.
So after that, I headed over to where Stevie was on the tree job to try and figure out what was going on. While I was there, I realized that I don’t have a clue how these things work. That… could be a problem, especially with me out of the country for two months. Hopefully it survives the next two months.
Hopefully, it thrives, honestly.
Anyway, I got there, realized I don’t have a clue, and just sort of poked around hoping to figure out what might be the issue.
Gratefully, I realized after not that long that the only thing that was the problem was the both the ground controls and the bucket controls were set to the emergency off position, so… that’s why it wouldn’t start. 🙃
So I got it going, and I helped get the spider backed up through the gate into the backyard, and I had fun sending Stevie through the trees way up in the air. Most importantly, we came away with no damage to the house, no damage to the fence, no damage to the shrubs, no damage to the swing set, no damage to the shed, and we got the limbs down that needed to come down. There’s still a lot more to finish on the job, and it took a lot longer than it should have, but we’re learning, and we’re getting better, and… that’s good. 😊
So… we’ll call it a win. 😊
We did get run off by the weather, which turned from a crazy windy day where my tools and stuff were blowing across the parking lot at the apartment complex I was at this morning, to the tornado warning we got later.
Rain came down pretty good, but I had the energy and the drive to get the tree leftovers out of our front yard (the last tree I cut down here on the homefront). By the time I was done, I was as soaked as though I’d jumped in a pool, but the wood has been added to the woodpile and is no longer on the lawn, and that’s good.
It’s 12:39. Need to go to bed. Might have someone we can hire as a ground guy to help get stuff done with the tree stuff. That would be good.
Anyway, need to go to bed. Not getting enough done. Only a week and a half before I leave!! 😬
Love and hugs. 😊
