Well, it was supposed to rain today. It was supposed to rain all day, thunderstorms, nasty weather, etc.
Given that was the expectation, and given that my mom was coming home today, and I wanted to have the house not be a complete disaster, I decided to stay home and just clean–all day. π
Had I been better prepared, I would have Hired my nieces to come help me clean everything. Unfortunately, I waited until the day of, and they were both busy.
Oops.
That put pretty much everything on me.
The whole house was pretty much a major mess. There wasn’t really even a portion of it that didn’t need significant help. π
So, I got up early and got to work. The kitchen was an absolute disaster. I haven’t really done any cooking or anything, just all disposable foods, so the kitchen wasn’t really my issue, but I got to be the one to clean it up anyway. I cleaned out the fridge a bit, cleaned out the microwave, cleaned off the stove, clean the countertops, clean the sink, did a gazillion dishes, mop the floor, wipe down other stuff that was dirty…
Vacuums pretty much the whole house, including the basement, shampooed the carpets in the dining area and front a bit, only to have somebody track mud and, which meant more cleaning. π
Mowed the other two thirds dish of the lawn. Reorganized the garage at least enough to get my mom’s car in there and some other junk out. Reorganized the celestial room and the family room because I had stuff piled in not very visually pleasing ways.
Did 80 trillion loads of laundry in an effort to try and make more room in my own bedroom to get some of the stuff that was piled up elsewhere in the house back in my room.
My poor room is beyond disaster. π
Clean the bathroom.
Reorganized all of my mom’s mail that’s been on her bed for the last 3 months since she’s been gone. It’s sort of dawned on me that she was going to get home late at night, and she probably wouldn’t want to have piles of mail to go through as soon as she got home.
And the fact that her plane got delayed three hours or so made it even more apropos.
Got her bathtub cleaned up a little bit. It was dirty from sitting for so long and also from me taking cold baths in it.
Drove to the Walmart neighborhood market and bought her some flowers.
I’m sure I’m forgetting something…
Tried to go to Wendy’s with my nephew, but they were out of most of the veggie stuff. Being short on veggies doesn’t do so well for a vegan sandwich. π
Truthfully, I’ve been doing a bit of dairy lately since I started buying the yogurt in the hopes of getting my stomach better. But dairy is back off the menu. Don’t think the probiotic yogurt actually really helped. I hope it was going to help, but I don’t think it did.
My mom’s plane got delayed in Chicago with a tornado warning. They evacuated the airport, my mom taking shelter in the bathroom in the airport. Pretty nutty. π¬
Her plane finally got in around 11ish, I think, and I got her picked up and home.
My mama’s home!!! π₯³π₯³π₯³
I had hit an energy wall a few hours before, so by the time I got to bed, I was beyond exhausted.
But Mama’s home!!! π₯³π₯³π₯³
Oh hey! I’ve actually slept in my bed the last two nights. After 2 and 1/2 months of sleeping and a recliner, I almost didn’t know what to do with myself lying down to go to sleep. Harbin wasn’t too bad in the morning waking up, though it was worse, I think, then after I sit up to sleep all night.
Oh, and the thunderstorms? We might have gotten a couple drops. The rain never materialized, though the wind certainly did. The wind howled and howled and how old. Branches down all over the place.
I love stormy weather, even if it’s only wind and not rain. I just love to see nature’s power at work.
I’m sure I’m forgetting stuff… But…
Love and hugs. π
