2023-05-07 — Lift the World

My achilles tendon was pretty bad this morning. It was sore enough that I was sort of limping around. I tried to do a little bit of yard work without straining it, pulling some vines and brush that I’d already cleared out over to a burn pile to burn.

I got that taken care of, but my Achilles tendon didn’t like it at all. I may need to take some days off of work or something.

We’ll see.

I did some cleaning up of the driveway, trying to make some progress there.

Bad stomach issues. Haven’t been eating well the last few days, so that’s not helping. Definitely making it worse. So I’ve got to get that back under control.

Emotionally exhausted. Physically struggling a bit. Was over the edge, and I think that’s a lot of why I’m feeling a bit lower last night and today. Pre- migraining, and all that stuff.

I don’t really have much to say about today. Harder day.

And as I’ve been trying to work toward getting this non-profit stuff going, honestly, it’s been pretty discouraging to see how the people of our country are being taught and encouraged to blame each other, hate each other, taught to see themselves as victims, taught that they are entitled… It’s discouraging to see so much… anger and bitterness and hatred.

We don’t need to tear other people down to lift other people up. We can lift everyone at the same time.

We live in an incredible country. It really is absolutely amazing. I’m so grateful for the way that it was structured that allows for state governments and a national government and different values to be honored in different states. It’s so beautiful. It’s genius, honestly.

The vast majority of us are good people with good hearts. But I see so much anger, violence, and hatred.

I wonder if the voices of kindness and love will even be heard? Our political leaders will continue to try to divide. As well our media. Truth is being presented as though it were lie, and lie as truth.

Discouraged.

But I want to believe that because deep down most of us are good, that even the hatred and anger can be peeled back and discarded as we look at each other as just a bunch of people trying to do the best that they can.

That’s my hope.

And I’m sad, almost to the point of tears right now, as I see so much hatred and blaming and anger.

I hope I can help turn the tide toward love and kindness and peace.

(sigh)

You might already be doing this, and if so, thank you. But i want to encourage all of you, when you see other people espousing views you disagree with and fighting for those views, I encourage you to think of those people as people trying to do the best they know how, people who are trying to go good based on what they believe to be right.

And if you are tempted to speak poorly of those people, don’t. Just don’t. Try to understand what they believe and what they are trying to accomplish and why. Not from what it looks like to you on the outside, but what it looks like from them on the inside.

And when you hear people speak negatively about others, defend those people who are being spoken about negatively. You don’t have to agree with them to defend them. And defending them does not mean you agree with them.

These may all be things that you are all doing anyway, so if so, thank you! And if this is a helpful reminder, then great!

May we as a people truly spread love and kindness and understanding and stop the divisive conversations, the complaining, the blaming…

Just… stop.

Let us lift. Lift each other. Lift those who disagree with us. Just… lift.

Love and hugs.
