Sorry, folks. I guess I didn’t realize time had gone by so quickly. I haven’t been working as much, so I guess that’s a good thing in some ways.
I’m writing this on the 15th looking back over the week.
Today started out helping a gentleman who had accidentally put some gas in his diesel. He was parked in a gravel parking lot, which made it not so nice, and it was a bit rainy as well, so that was doubly not as nice, but by the time I got done, the rain had stopped, and I was mostly dry.
Grateful for the canopy that I carry around with me. Otherwise I would have been soaked.
The job went mostly pretty well. I had deciphen out somewhere between I think 25 and 30 gallons of fuel and then wiped down the tank and whatnot. When putting the pump back in, the wiring to the pump was longer than I expected it, and I didn’t notice that the wires got caught between the tank and the top of the pump, so I accidentally damaged the wiring a little bit.
Got to love that. 😬
It was just one wire, and just pinched just barely enough to show a little bit of metal through.
After thinking about it, I felt like it would be best to leave it as is, as opposed to cutting it and splicing it. The pinch that I’d put on it would not have damaged the interior wires at all, I don’t think, and it would be a much better connection than one that’s been cut and spliced. At least that was how I felt. I would much rather have an original wire that’s only slightly damaged than one that’s been cut and spliced together.
So I let one of the gentlemen know, and if anything ever happens, I guess they get a free job out of the deal.
Doubt anything will ever happen.
A second car was a 2011 Hyundai it wasn’t starting. I think it was a sonata. I got over there, and I found it all that he needed was a new battery. He had some other concerns, so I took it out for a test drive checking stuff out as well before sending him on his way to go buy a battery from Walmart and get his oil changed.
The last car for the day was a 1998 Jeep Wrangler that he had just recently bought and wanted to get checked out. So I went over to it and inspected it. It was a nice looking Jeep, but it had a lower end engine noise that I wasn’t able to diagnose exactly. So I did the inspection he requested I do, gave him a list of stuff to be aware of and sent him to a shop to have that bottom and noise looked at since it’s not going to be something that I’d be able to repair anyway. I’m hoping it’s not something major, but it’s not good, that’s for sure.
Being so long ago and not having taken notes for the 11th, I don’t remember what else I did that day. It was Thursday… hmmm… Yeah, I’ve got nothing. 🙃
