2023-08-13 — They’re Just Babies

Saturday and Sunday are blurs. I’m disappointed that I’m not keeping better track of what’s going on. It’s nice to be able to go back and look at what was going on, things that happened in my life on particular days, and when I miss days, it almost feels like avoid, something lost.

Anyway, I know I’ve done a lot of tax preparation stuff so that the end of the year doesn’t turn out to be a monumental nightmare like it has been the last several years. So that’s a positive. I probably worked on that some on Saturday, I would guess.

I’ve certainly spent hours going back through receipts and everything, back through purchases, and back through transactions with customers.

I found yet another receipt for a refund that didn’t actually get processed. Over the years, it’s been thousands of dollars at this point, I think. Right now my latest account for this latest batch is somewhere around 4 or 500 I think. It’s just weird. It’s got to be something on AutoZone’s end because the receipt for the transaction prints out immediately. And the receipt shows that there’s a problem, so it’s not an issue with my credit card company because the transactions for refunds aren’t even processed until midnight or later on the day of the transaction itself, so it’s on the AutoZone and and not with my credit card company.

I still wonder how many other people around the world are getting refunds but not actually getting the money back. How many people actually go through every single business receipt like I do?

Anyway, so I’ve been doing a lot of that. I’ve also been organizing piles of papers that were all over my floor. I’ve actually gotten it down to where I have no piles of paper on my floor! 🥳

I still have plenty of paperwork to do, but no more piles sitting on my floor waiting to be filed in their proper places. Everything has been filed. 🥳

And in being filed, lots of what had to happen with what those papers were for was also taken care of at the same time. So… double progress.

What else…

I helped a little bit up at the garden, though I was really late because I slept in after a super long freaky Friday.

I got rid of some wood and whatnot that was rotting.

I found a whole bunch of baby mice. I didn’t have the heart to kill them, even though their pests up at the barn and whatnot. So I gathered them up in their nest in a plastic bin, and then I managed to catch what I’m hoping was their mother a little bit later. And then I took them all across the creek and set them down with a new roof.

Hopefully they survive. Hopefully I didn’t just prolong their death. The chickens would have found them and eaten the babies, or the mother would have moved them first before the chickens could get to them.

I don’t like seeing things die.

Well, I guess that’s relative, because I kill red wasps, mosquitoes, ticks, and brown recluses all the time without any remorse. 😅

Family meeting was on Sunday. That was good. I haven’t been to one in a while. Nice to be chatting about things with the family and what all is going on.

I’ve been trying to help out a little bit more here on the property as I’m working less.

I’m distracted with other important things right now, so I don’t have much else coming to mind to say about Saturday and Sunday.

Lift the world.
