2023-09-17 — SkyJo Kids

It was only 2 days ago, but I can’t really remember much of anything. It’s the 19th today, and I’m just trying to remember what happened on Sunday, and I’ve got nothing. 🙃

Let’s see, I woke up, and I think I spent a while trying to get my photos transferred over from my phone to my new backup SSD. No matter what I did, though, I couldn’t get them to transfer successfully. The process kept freezing and never completing. Might be an issue with my cable. Not sure.

So I spent a lot of time on my brother’s front porch with my computer plugged in and my cell phone charging and all that jazz, but I was never successful.

After my mother and brother got home from church, I think we had some breakfast or lunch or something? And then we watched the second half of Gettysburg.

Powerful show.

After that, Jared’s kids started to trickle in. Graham arrived first, we chatted for a little bit. I played with his son for a little while while he and my mom went through the old 35 mm cameras that were my granddad’s and then passed on to my mom and now are being passed on to Graham. It’s pretty cool that he likes the old stuff, and those cameras will be kept in the family. Fun fun.

Christian and his wife arrived after, so I met her for the first time. Prior to that, I’d only met her over video call the last time I was in Utah.

A little while after that Katherine and Emily showed up, and I didn’t recognize either of them at first. Crazy how that is. 🙃 I chatted with them for a little while.

Just as we were getting ready to start making dinner, I got a phone call I wasn’t expecting that was really important and had to step out for about an hour. When I got back, Katherine and Emily had already left, and Graham was just leaving, so I got to say goodbye to him.

I went inside and played skyJo with Alyssa and Benj and Christian and his wife, whose name I’m spacing right now 😅, and my brother Jared and my mom.

That was a lot of fun. I was in my quick-witted joking state of mind, so I was cracking jokes and we were all having a great time. It’s nice when I am in that space. The vast majority of the time, I’m serious and subdued because of everything that I’ve got weighing down on me all the time. So it was really nice to actually feel light and comedic and to be able to make everybody laugh over and over again.

I miss that part of me. It’s not really been awoken much in the last several years.

Anyway, I also love to see Alyssa and Benj together. They are so happy and clearly deeply in love. It’s awesome. 😊

So we played games and snacked on chips and salsa and some sweets and whatever else. Good times. 🙂

My mom and I were supposed to have been at Richard and McKinley’s house for dinner, but we just kept staying longer and longer, playing and chatting with the kids and Jared and what not.

Finally we got out the door I want to say about 8:30? Something like that maybe? And we drove over to Richard and McKinley’s house. McKinley was already asleep, but I chatted with Richard for probably at least a few hours, mostly about football. 🙃 Chatted with stone of his step kids.

Good stuff. 😊

I think Richard and I finally stopped chatting about 1:30 a.m.? After which, I went outside and slept out in my van because it’s just easier and more comfortable for me that way.

And that was Sunday!

Lift the world.
