2023-11-17 — Not The Right Color

Nope, definitely not. Definitely not the right color. It’s so much harder to stay on top of it when I’m working.

Gotta drink more. 🙃

I used my water to rinse off car parts and to be filled up with coolant. 😅

I don’t miss being a mechanic. 😆

Morning study was good. Servicise was good. I did get breakfast before i went–protein water, really big bowl of generic cheerios, two pieces of toast, and an apple.

The only other thing I ate today before I got home was an avocado, so the little menudo was begging for sustenance.

First job. Brake job. They supplied the parts. Took way longer than it should have, but that’s Stephen with brakes. 😅 Perhaps no other repair/maintenance work I do better demonstrates my perfectionism than brake jobs.

🙃

Second job, put on spare tire.

Woohoo! Easy peasy. 🥳

Third job, water pump and thermostat on Mercedes. Customer providing parts again. Aaaaand… the gasket the pump came with was damaged, so I couldn’t finish the job. I did get it all apart, so once we have a good gasket, we should be good. It might be a little while first, though. Special order.

Fourth job was a no start Cadillac–turned out to have a blown mega fuse. Easy peasy, just had to go buy on and slap it in.

Last job, Suzuki SX4. They kept driving after the brakes made the squealing noise until they started grinding, and then they kept driving even still until they ejected the brake pad, and blew out the caliper, and had brake fluid leaking all over.

😬

I’ve had at least three people in the last few days, I think, call me who has done that with their cars. It turns a $200ish repair into a $900ish repair.

If your brakes be squealing…

I let them talk me down a little bit because they were a little short on funds, so hopefully that was helpful. Unfortunately, when I got all finished with the front, and started taking it out on a test drive, I heard grinding immediately.

The back was metal on metal as well. 😶

Yikes.

I didn’t get finished with that job until right around 9:00, I think. So it’s 10:30. I’m exhausted. If I fall asleep right now, I’ll get 6 hours of sleep. But I probably won’t fall asleep until 10:45 or 11:00, so… It’s going to be a groggy one tomorrow. 😅

I still haven’t had a night since I started my new routine where I feel like I’ve gotten a full night’s sleep.

I’ll get there.

Discipline. 🙃

I’m going to work again tomorrow because Monday and Tuesday are supposed to be rainy. I also have someone who’s applying to work for me tomorrow, so I’ll have a little interview and see how it goes.

🤞

Oh, how I’d love to get someone again. I make less money, but… that’s ok.

I risked it and ate dinner just 15 minutes ago, so I might have some stomach issues tonight, and might end up having to sleep in the recliner, but I was just famished, so… It was worth the risk, in my book.

I guess we’ll see in a few hours… or fewer. 😅

I’m grateful that I was able to reach my billable hours goal today.

I’m grateful I had a few people pay me in cash today, as I was starting to run short on cash.

I’m grateful that though it was super cloudy and looked like The heavens could open up and dump any moment, that the worst I got was a super light mist that you could just barely feel if you pay attention.

I’m grateful to have met the owner of the Mercedes. He is a do everything programmer who’s so good at what he does that he’s able to finish everything that his company asks him to do in a day in about 3 hours. He’s looking for a side projects, and I chatted with him about some of my ideas, and he’s interested in talking to me more. Maybe something can come of it.

I’m grateful that I can go to bed now. 😅

G’night, my lovelies. 😊

Lift the world.
