2024-01-12 — Finally!

It’s taking pretty much 5 months, but I finally got all the documentation that I needed to successfully submit my reimbursement form for the EGD that I had last August.

And after spending about an hour on the phone with my health insurance people, it’s actually been submitted!

🥳

Holy freaking crap. I never in a million years would have guessed that this would have been this much of a nightmare just to get a bill over to my insurance company.

I’m going to have a chat with them probably next week to find out what I can do to make this easier or keep this issue from happening again.

I spend a while cleaning up my room, as it’s looks like a bomb went off in it. Papers everywhere. Clothes everywhere. Still haven’t recovered from two different trips, the big long one out west last fall, and this short one over Christmas, so I’ve been working on getting things cleaned up and organized again.

Laundry…

Cleaning out my Civic a bit…

Took my mom to visit one of her friends. With the crazy cold weather and the little bit of snow, it’s been a bit nutty.

Oh, I guess that’s probably an interesting thing to mention. Last night We lost power about 11:00 because we had a massive winter explosion of a storm.

60 mile an hour winds, I think. Snow and hail, and That’s when the power went out.

There wasn’t really much to do about it. Our generator doesn’t work automatically anymore and has to be started manually, so we just decided to wait until morning to deal with that.

Gratefully, when we woke up in the morning, the power was already back. We were one of the lucky ones, has other people didn’t get their power back that quickly.

We were also pretty lucky in that we only had branches blowing around the yard and at least one shingle torn off. I wouldn’t be surprised if more got torn off, but it’s been icy and cold, so we haven’t gone around looking.

But yeah, others weren’t so lucky. There were probably dozens of trees downed on our street, roofing ripped off sheds… Pretty big mess.

We survived better than brothers I think because I’d already cut down so many of the questionable trees, so there aren’t really many around our house that are going to come crashing down because they’ve already been taken care of for the most part.

Our house is also in a decent location to deal with that stuff anyway because we live in the middle of the forest with only a few acres cleared around us. Straight line winds, therefore, don’t have the same effect as people who live with less vegetation growing around them.

Anyway, I also got the minivan listed for sale, so hopefully I’ll start getting bites on that and get that out of your. With the price of car insurance having gone through the roof this last cycle, and with me having like seven cars insured right now, it’s a little pricey. It used to not be a big deal because insurance was cheap, and was nice to have the spare cars available for myself or whoever might need to borrow them. However, with the price of insurance having skyrocketed, it’s not worth it anymore to keep all those extra cars.

I don’t own any vehicles that are really worth anything anyway, so it’s that much less desirable to keep them insured at the crazy prices.

And can someone please explain to me why it is that If I’m only getting liability only insurance coverage, and I can only drive one car at a time, why do I have to pay regular insurance rates for all of my vehicles? I don’t get covered for hail damage or theft or collision or any of that. I get zero benefit at all. I can only drive one car at a time, so liability should only be charged for one vehicle. At least that’s my thinking…

If anybody has an answer for that, I’d be grateful to know the rationale behind How they charge that stuff.

Anyway, that was the day yesterday.

Oh, I think a tornado actually touched down not too far away from us. I was talking to the commercial manager at the Pea Ridge AutoZone, and they were out working on their cars when they heard what sound like a freight train. One of them thought it was a freight train, but Cody knew the sound and was like, we have to get inside right now!

So they ran inside, and literally 7 seconds or so after they got inside, it went from calm and no precipitation to violent winds and hail. Tore the siding off their house. Tour shingles off. And It sent their concrete mailbox 50 yd up the road.

He said that he saw when the lightning flashed that the sky was green, so given that, and given everything that happened how it happened, sounds like it was a small tornado.

Fun stuff!

Love & hugs!

Lift the world.
