2024-02-15 — Real Progress!!!

I did it!

🥳

I finally managed…

Well, I’ll get to that. Let’s just start with the beginning of the day.

I’ve been absolutely exhausted lately. I think a good chunk of the reason why is that I haven’t been eating well lately. I haven’t been eating much during the day, and when I do eat, it’s been junk. 😅

I think that’s actually played a big role in how tired I’ve been.

Anyway, after getting up, I went up to the upper field, unloaded the dump trailer, and got ready to drive to Oklahoma to once again work on disassembling the greenhouse.

The first stop, though, was actually at the DMV to finally get the Z3 title transferred over to my name.

Gratefully, that went smoothly. 😊

Titled, registered, and I got to use the old license plate that was on the Dodge Caravan that I sold a little while back.

🥳

To Oklahoma!

I went to Oklahoma today with lofty aspirations, hoping to get a whole bunch done.

As you know, each time that I have gone out there, I have made progress, but I haven’t felt like I’ve made much progress.

This time was different! This time I actually got a lot more done than I thought I would! I got all of the roof rails taken off, disassembled, and loaded up. I got the bug screen, and side wood rails completely taken off on one side. I got the crank pipe sections completely disassembled and loaded up on one side. I got the plastic taken off the top, which was a bit of a feat. The way it was designed, I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to realistically disassemble it and keep the plastic intact.

Well, I actually don’t know if I managed to keep the plastic intact, but I came up with What I consider to be a great idea for how to get the plastic off the top given the circumstances. What I ended up doing was detaching the entire 100 ft wood stabilizer that was bolted to the top of the greenhouse, almost like a backbone running the entire distance. I unbolted it from the inside, so that it was completely detached, and then I went and got a piece of rope, bunched up one of the corners of the greenhouse plastic, both layers, tied a knot about 4 ft up, or so, on that corner, so I had plenty of plastic strength to work with, ran the rope over the top of the greenhouse from the one side all the way to the other, and then pulled.

Starting with that corner, I pulled the plastic all the way from the other side across the top and down my side. Once I was able to reach the plastic, then I started grabbing it more toward the middle of the greenhouse pulling along the way to try and even it up. Once I got to the point that I had a significant portion of both sheets of plastic from the other side transferred to my side, then I knew that if I kept pulling, that entire huge 100 ft section of wood would Just slide from the top all the way to the bottom.

I was banking on the plastic, as it came down, to create a bit of a buffer, so when the woods slid all the way down and came crashing to the ground, it would crash onto a big pile of plastic.

I think I succeeded!

I haven’t spent any time trying to undo that big 100 ft long pile of plastic and wood, but it seemed to come down fairly successfully in one big piece.

That’s the hope, at least.

But I felt like I got an absolutely massive amount done, and I even labeled everything that I was taking apart, so it can go back together much more effectively.

The first one I took apart will probably be a bit of a nightmare, but this one should be good. 😊

I stayed well after dark, not leaving until around 7:00 or 7:30, maybe? I don’t remember for sure. I stopped off on the way home and bought some stuff from the Walmart neighborhood market, and then I vegged out a little bit before crashing around midnight last night.

And now, I’m all caught up with my journal!
