After feeling quite encouraged by All the plotting and scheming That Jim and I have been doing for the property, and having that sentiment reinforced by what seemed like a real possibility of having greater family buy-in on the future and mission of Haven Hill, I found myself re-energized to work on Haven Hill Creek Park– as well as the rest of the property.
I worked down by the deck. I’m pretty sure I spent a decent amount of time trying to better organize my pile of greenhouse building materials that are now in the upper pasture along the west edge. Everything’s just kind of been in a strewn around mess.
So I put all the hoop metal and what not all neatly stacked together. A lot more work needs to be done to get that area looking nice, but it’s better than it was.
Andrea’s helped me load the picnic table into the dump trailer, and I drove it over to Jim’s house, borrowed his pressure washer, and spent quite a long time pressure washing it clean.
It’s so funny, I spent so much time sometimes trying to get good deals, only to realize that the amount of work that I need to put into them to make them nice negates the price I paid for them. I could just go by a new table that someone else had put together and then go out and work a little bit extra to pay for the additional cost.
I’m better than I used to be, but I still find myself spending time that I didn’t need to spend if I had just bought one and just worked a little bit extra.
Oh well. I’m slowly learning.
🙃
I helped Jim pull up the weed cloth for the Hill family garden for a little bit, and then he had to go back inside to keep working. Well he was working, I kept pulling up the rest of the weed cloth, and we were able to get it all pulled up.
After that, he helped me carry the picnic table over to its spot on the platform by the deck.
From there, I think we went over to the spring House pond to try and gauge the flow of the creek. I might be getting my days mixed up, but I think that’s what we did next. I think we went down there, tried to build a bit of a dam….
Yes! That’s what we did. Jim grabbed my skid steer and put cinder blocks in it, and we built a bit of a temporary dam to try and create a spillway from which we could measure the output of the spring.
We worked at it for a bit, but we weren’t really successful in accomplishing what I had hoped to accomplish.
Still, I love building dams. 😁 It’s a love since my childhood days. 😊
Honestly, I don’t remember anything else I did on Tuesday, so I’m sure I vegged out in front of a screen for a little while at the end of the day, so I’ll add that and call this day’s summary good.
Lift the world.
