Another nightmare…
Maybe I shouldn’t call them nightmares. I don’t know. They are just circumstances that remind me how lonely I am, so I wake up feeling super super lonely.
And I’m having trouble sleeping.
Well, not so much sleeping, in general, as waking up earlier than I want to. I’m falling asleep fine. I’m just… Waking up before I’ve gotten a full night of sleep.
🤷
Normal day today. Went to the parts store first thing to do the normal returns and picking up a parts.
First job of the day was a 2012 Honda Civic in Pea Ridge that wouldn’t start. Turned out to be a starter. Shocker 🙃.
Car number two was a 2018 Toyota 4Runner with a misfire on cylinder 4. Turned out to just be a coil pack, an interestingly enough, it was a coil pack they had already replaced. AutoZone house brand. Doesn’t bode so well for the autozone part that I just put in. 😅
But hey, at least they will get their money back for the one that they bought before.
Car number three was going to a 2009 Lincoln MKZ. She said it needed breaks, but when I got there, I realized that it didn’t just need pads, it had been driven to the point that not only were the rotors ground down by the backing plate of the brake pad, but they had kept driving it even after that until the brake pad had ejected from the caliper bracket and had blown the caliper.
One of these days I really do need to make a YouTube video explaining breaks and pleading with people to not drive the way they do so frequently. Oftentimes people say they can’t afford the brake pad job, so they keep driving, and a week or two later, instead of it being just a $250 pad slap job, they’re looking at 500, 600… 800.
It’s not just a little difference. 😶
Car number 4 was a 2008 GMC Acadia with the message engine power reduced. I got there, and is best as I could tell, they had issues with the high pressure fuel pump. It was either that or a super bad carbon issue, But my scan tool showed fuel pressure that was way out of spec for what it was supposed to be, so I diagnosed it as a bad high pressure fuel pump.
They called later having googled a bunch of things thinking that maybe it was just a PCV valve.
Ummm…. no. 🙃
Card number five was a 2018 GMC Acadia that they had purchased a battery for and just wanted me to put it in, so I obliged. I like battery jobs. 😁
The last car of the day was a 2011 Chevy Impala in Rogers that he had tried to do a thermostat job on his own, but he had run into trouble removing the thermostat from the thermostat housing.
I think it’s only the second time I’ve done one of those thermostats, and they are one of the craziest designs that I’ve ever seen. Super super challenging to remove the thermostat from the housing. Lots and lots and lots of He-Man efforts, and some strategic twisting, both for the removal and for the installation.
Gratefully, I finally got it done, so that was good.
I’ve been back working on JustAnswer again, so that’s good.
Anyway, that’s pretty much the day. I’m lonely.
Lift the world.
