2024-03-16 (Saturday) — Get Down on the Farm

Hello, my lovelies. 😊

Happy day to you!

Alright, let’s see. I was grateful to have a bee in my bonnet early and to have motivation to work and get stuff done today. 😊

I started early, getting to the Rogers recycling center shortly after they opened at 7:30, where I grabbed that last load of wood chips that I didn’t get because of the tornado warning.

Did I mention sulfur Springs had grapefruit-sized hail? 😢

I probably mentioned that already. πŸ™ƒ

Anyway, so I got that load, was able to successfully, end without any issues, dump it in the same area that gave me all sorts of grief on Thursday.

I spent the morning working on the farm with Jim, tearing out trees, figuring out where to store the wood and plastic for the greenhouse stuff. Then we spent a couple hours, or so, measuring all the elevation changes from the creek level up to the pond. Looks like it’s 17 vertical feet from the creek level to where the lower greenhouse is going to be, and then it’s another 53 ft from there up to the pond. So It looks like we can get away with two ramps to do the job of getting water up to the pond.

We’ll have one ram pump that goes from the starting spot at the creek to about the halfway point. That line will feed a water tower that will have an automatic release valve that when it gets to a certain level, dumps water into the next ram pump, which will take the water all the way up to the pond.

🀞

We also measured the elevation of the pond level itself. Looks like it’ll be about 7 1/2 to 8ft when full.

Next step, buy/build a ram pump. 😁

I love stuff like that. 😊

After measuring all that stuff, Jim headed out to help his son with some stuff at their house in Pea Ridge. While he was gone, I loaded up just about a full trailer load of wood leftovers from back in the Haven Hill Tree Service days. They’ve been a bit of an eye sore for over a year now. πŸ˜…

So i got those loaded (the trailer is, I think, 16 feet long, 7 feet wide, and 4 feet tall, so… a lot of wood. πŸ™ƒ)

Anyway, I loaded all that up (working really hard to have good lifting posture for all the heavy logs). Then I dumped it all down by the deck area, where we’ll have wood piles for those who want to use the fire pit. 😊

So… lots of cutting, lots of stacking, but it’ll be good. 😊

Then I spent a good amount of time cutting up and loading the wood leftovers from what Jim and I did a couple weeks ago, trimming trees, and burning rotten trees, etc. I loaded another trailer full. Though this one was mostly branches–and a lot of poison ivy–big poison ivy–stuff I thought was actually tree, but… nope, I realized, hopefully not too late. πŸ˜…

I’ll likely be a bit itchy in a few days–for a couple of weeks. But I’ll hope not. 🀞

I dumped that load by the pond, where we’ll burn it, and hopefully, it’ll help seal the pond. 🀞

Jim got back about that time, and though we were both completely exhausted, we kept on going. He manned the tractor while I lit fires.

😁

I also cut down several more trees, and I climbed up on the tractor forks, and Jim lifted me up to prune low-hanging branches off some big trees.

We got a lot done yesterday. 😊

Oh! I forgot! We also spent an hour or so working on Jim’s yard, clearing out weeds, cleaning up trash, etc.

That was after we did the measuring and before he left during the middle of the day.

Yeah, we got a lot done. 😊

After that, I took a shower and then worked for JustAnswer for a little over 4 hours–until after 2 in the morning. πŸ™ƒπŸ˜…

Good day. Love to all.

Lift the world.
