Just four cars today–a bit surprising given the time of year. I would expect to be slammed.
🤷
First car was a 2011 Kia Rio that the owner wanted me to install an alternator that they had already purchased. I think it was someone who takes care of an older person as a traveling nurse, and their car had broken down.
I went over and was able to get it installed without too much difficulty, gratefully.
That first job was up in Bella Vista.
Vehicle number two was down in Bentonville and was a 2012 Ford E350 van. It wasn’t starting, and it turned out to be just a battery. 🥳
Car number three was going back to that 2009 Ford f150 that the squirrel had chewed through the fuel line. The new fuel line came kinked out of the brand new packaging, but fortunately, after heating it up, I was able to get it in what looked like solid condition for being used. I let him know about the kink, and he didn’t seem concerned about it.
Gratefully, it wasn’t a huge deal getting it back in, so that was nice!
The last car of the day was a 2020 GMC Sierra that needed rear brake pads put on. What he didn’t tell me was that he had done a whole bunch of work trying to do it himself, and he had blown out the rear caliper. When I got there, there was brake fluid all over the ground, the piston had been pushed out of the caliper, and it was a big mess. I tried to get the piston back in the caliper, trying to find some way to get him going, but it was not reasonable. I ended up referring him to a nearby shop who could get him in the next day.
Yeah, don’t want to be messing with those guys. I think I tried and my scanner didn’t even have the capability of dealing with those rear electronic brakes.
After that job, since I had plenty of time, I was able to swing by the 2000 Ford doggy van that I bought from my customer. I got a bunch of the stuff disconnected to be ready to pull the tank, but it’s going to be a lot of work, and I didn’t get it all done.
But that was basically the day. In one way, it was nice that it was slower today, which made it possible to work on the van I bought.
Lift the world.
