2024-04-03 (Wednesday) — A Full Day!!!

Finally got a busy day! 7 cars, 10 billable hours.

🥳

First one of the day was a 2005 Toyota tundra in Bella Vista that wouldn’t start. Pretty routine. Was a bad starter, and those aren’t too difficult with those old tundras with that particular engine, And I had already come prepared with a starter, so it was easy peasy.

The next car, also in Bella Vista was a 2018 Nissan Pathfinder that supposedly had an issue with the front right low beam not working even after he had replaced it. When I got there, I found that, though he thought he had replaced the low beam bulb, he actually had replaced a different bulb.

So I showed him what he had replaced and what still needed to be replaced, and That was that. 😊

Car number three was a 2012 Hyundai sonata in Rogers that wouldn’t start. Turned out that it was a starter, just like that 2013 from the other day, and having just recently done one, it was easy peasy to do the job again. I even found a better way of doing it this time. 🥳

The fourth car of the day was a 2015 Kia Sorento that needed a tire plugged, so she could get to the tire shop. That car was way the heck and gone down in West fork, where I don’t usually work, but since it was just a tire patch, I decided I would go down there.

It was also relatively close to the freeway instead of way off in Timbukthree.

When I got there, I found that she didn’t just have one hole in her tire, she had two holes very close together. I was afraid that if I reamed them out to put in the plug, then it would actually make one big gash instead of two holes. Fortunately, the leak wasn’t super fast, so I filled up her tire with air, and I offered to follow her to the tire shop. She declined the offer, but she did make it successfully to the tire shop without the tire going flat again, so that’s a win. 🎉

Car number five Was in Fayetteville and was yet another Hyundai sonata that wouldn’t start. I thought this one was the starter, and I did a whole bunch of work to try and verify, but It ended up not being the starter. I forget all that went on, but I ended up spending over 2 hours there, and in the end, I was able to fix it without needing any parts. I think there was some kind of an issue with the ignition wire. But I got him fixed and on the road.

🥳

The 6th car of the day was a 2007 Dodge ram 1500 that he thought had an exhaust manifold that needed to be replaced. Fortunately, there was no such issue. There wasn’t even an exhaust leak of any kind, I don’t think, which can be unusual for Dodges. 😆

What I did find was that there was a loose piece of plastic that was rubbing against the rear wheel. We took it around for test drive and were finally able to recreate what he thought was a sound in the front but that was actually in the rear. So when I went and looked back there, I found that one of the plastic shields was bent up and was periodically banging against the wheel.

Nice one “issues” turn out to be non-issues. 😊

The last car of the day was going to a 2013 Chevy Impala in Springdale that had a bad battery. After diagnosing, I drove to the nearby AutoZone, the new one in tontitown, grabbed a battery, swapped it out, and headed home. I had the opportunity to pick up a dishwasher they were getting rid of, And I almost snagged it and threw it in the van, but then I thought better of it. I have too many projects on my plate already. I’m barely surviving right now, so I decided not to bring it home, despite my desires to upgrade our dishwasher to one that wouldn’t leak or to get one for Stevie since he doesn’t even have one.

I just don’t have anything left, no more room for more projects.

Hopefully the good I’m doing overrides the good I could have done that I chose not to do this time.

Amazingly, even with the crazy full day that I had, I had the energy to swing by Springdale and work on one of those many many projects– The old Ford van that I bought. And amazingly, I was actually able to get the fuel line switched out on it! 🥳

In order to not have to drop the tank again, I slightly rerouted the fuel line, but I’m happy with it for now. I still need to get a different fuel filter because the fuel filter that was on it is not the right size for the vehicle, but I got it in place and far enough away from the catalytic converter in heat shield to not be a hazard… I hope. 😅

Busy day!

Lift the world.
