2024-05-30 (Thursday) — Poison Ivy Joy

Well, it’s the third day after working with a whole bunch of poison ivy, so you know what that means. πŸ™ƒ

Yep. It’s all over my face, my arms, and my legs. This time I got it in a new place as well. It’s on my neck. I’ve never had poison ivy on my neck before, I don’t think. I must have had a vine brush against my neck when I was in the tree.

πŸ˜…

There’s no emoji for being itchy. πŸ™ƒ

It’s on my ankles… which were covered. πŸ€”

It’s… everywhere.

Ugh.

Oh poison ivy, my unfortunately common acquaintance. Why must you love me so?

It’s never fun, but I guess I’m kind of used to it by now. That and despite my checking for ticks and my duct taped legs, there were ticks on my ankles when I got home and was getting ready to jump in the shower. I think I pulled four little ones off of me.

I pulled another one off of me today as well.

Ticks, beloved ticks. Gosh those things are everywhere. Neighbor Dan said that this is the worst tick season he can remember.

There certainly are a massive number of them. πŸ˜…

I went to my final follow-up appointment with the surgeon for my leg. I guess I shouldn’t say surgeon because it’s just the nurse practitioner lady who I actually see. X-rays were fine. Still needs more time to fully heal, but no additional damage, so I’m good to keep going as I am.

There’s definitely quite a bit of edema in that leg, though. I can press my fingers into the soft tissue, and it’ll hold its shape like memory foam. πŸ˜†

After going to The doctor, I went over to the Bobcat dealer to see if I could get the seal kits I needed for my skid steer. Unfortunately they didn’t have them there, but fortunately, the store in Springdale did, so I figured I would head there later.

From the Bobcat store, I went up to Miguel’s shop to take him the title for the wrecked Subaru that’s been at our house waiting for an open slot in Miguel’s parking lot.

I saw neighbor Joe on the way home, and mentioned to him that I was going to get a load of wood chips for our other neighbor who’s trying to start a little plant business. She specifically focusing on plant medicine growing, and no, not the marijuana kind. πŸ™ƒ

When Joe heard that I was going to get wood chips, he mentioned that he was wanting some, so I offered to get him a load as well, so he went with me To get the load for our neighbor lady, and then we switched trucks because my truck doesn’t have four-wheel drive, so it keeps getting stuck in softer ground because the trailer is so heavy that it lifts the rear end enough that the rear end can’t get traction. Since it’s a rear-wheel drive truck, then it gets stuck, tires spinning.

The neighbor lady offered to let me use her truck to go get my tow strap, so I grabbed the tow strap, and she used her four-wheel drive truck to pull my truck and the trailer forward, so the trailer would finish dumping.

Anyway, after getting back, we swapped trucks, putting his dodge truck with a turbo diesel on it. It wasa lot easier in that truck. That one’s built to haul, and it’s four-wheel drive. πŸ™‚

So we got that load dumped for him, which he was grateful for, is it takes one heck of a lot of time to try and go get it all yourself. Our neighbor lady was getting it one pickup load at a time, and what a pain in the butt that is. My dump trailer probably fits 30 pickup truck loads in it.

After getting Joe all unloaded, we brought the trailer back To the upper pasture, and then Joe, being curious about the different varieties of chickens that we have, chatted with Andres for probably 30 or 45 minutes learning about the different kinds of chickens and feed and temperaments and weather resilience and disease resistance and all that jazz. A little bit of everything. πŸ™‚

I managed to make it down to the Bobcat store in Springdale about 15 minutes before they closed for the day, and gratefully, they did indeed have the seal kits that I needed. One of my nephews here called earlier today asking if his company could rent my skid steer and dump trailer because they were absolutely overwhelmed with trees that they needed to take care of. Unfortunately, with my skid steer being down, I couldn’t rent them to the company he works for. 😬

So I’m grateful that I was able to get the seal kits. It might be too late by the time I get the skid steer fixed tomorrow, but I will have done my best.

I guess I had better check the weather to make sure that it’s not going to rain.

Property taxes are also due tomorrow, so I need to get that done. Right now I’m just tired and hungry and it’s coming up on 5: 30, and I’m actually writing a journal entry on time. Let’s see if I actually finish it and get it posted today. πŸ™ƒ

It’s 2:19 a.m. now. Dinner, nap, a few a JustAnswer questions, some vegging.

Good night.
