(written on the 23rd)
So… pretty significant miscommunication.
For the last 2 months, move out date has been the 22nd. But what was our surprise when Jenna and Zach showed up today to move all of their stuff over, expecting to stay the night as well.
๐ถ
I guess there was somebody else trying to take charge of the move, and for some reason they thought it would be best for Jenna and Zach to move in the day before we move out. ๐ค
It was my understanding that we would be moving on the same day and when the moving party unloaded a load at one house, they would then pick up a load and bring it back to the other house.
Since my mom and Thomas were just swapping living spaces with Jenna and Zach, that’s what made sense to me.
But… That’s not what happened. ๐
So I started scrambling to pack up and move things a day early. I scrambled and scrambled, and I worked and worked, along with others helping us, and we did end up moving quite a bit, but it was pretty clear that it didn’t make much sense to have them stay the night at our house and us stay the night at their house when we weren’t even going to be moving out fully until the next day anyway.
Eventually, it was decided that they would stay in their house one more night and come over the day that we moved out instead of the day before.
Phew! ๐
Anyway, lots of scrambling, trying to keep helpers busy whom we didn’t know were coming to help a day early.
Very stressful.
I don’t deal well with stress anymore. I’m pretty much perpetually overwhelmed and flood relatively quickly.
But we made decent progress.
I cleaned out the fridge for Zach and Jenna. We’re leaving it, and it needed a decent cleaning to be presentable–and since they were expecting to be moving in and sleeping the night tonight, all their refrigerated and frozen foods came over.
Gratefully we had a second fridge in the garage, and we had been eating down our food, so I was able to take stuff out of our inside fridge and put it in our outside fridge, get the inside fridge cleaned up decently, and get their stuff packed into it.
Phew!
I don’t remember much else that happened. Packing up and moving stuff over to Mom and Thomas’ new place. Bringing Zach and Jenna’s stuff back.
Loading, unloading…
First day of the housing swap in the books. Bed earlier, alarm set.
Things are a little crazy right now. ๐คช
Lift the world.
