I actually woke up early today. It wasn’t necessarily because I had gotten plenty of sleep. I probably got maybe 6 hours, or so? Not bad, but not great.
What was great was that it was cool enough last night that I needed my blanket, and I was even a little cold at one point (When I turn the van on to charge up a little bit because I was slightly paranoid that it was going to get drained down. But it’s been absolutely fabulous. I actually haven’t used my jump box to run my fan a good while now, just relying on the main Van battery, and it’s done great.
Wahoo π₯³
My nerves weren’t very happy, and I think that played a part in me not being able to fall asleep very well after One of my morning wake ups.
Nerves haven’t been very happy. Body is stiff, Very stiff in the lower back, which is where many of the problems originate.
Been doing a bit more stretching, and that also makes things better and works at the same time. It makes some issues better and exacerbates others.
It’s sort of a no-win situation with the issues that I have, unfortunately.
What can you do.
Since I was already up, and since it was Saturday, I knew that Jim was going to be out working in the garden starting about 8:30, so I headed over there and helped him weed for about an hour. I rinsed off my arms afterwards because I was pulling a whole bunch of long wet weeds, so chiggers were a pretty significant risk.
I chose not to take a bath, so we’ll see if that comes back to haunt me. I’ll know if I end up with chigger bites on my arms and armpits and neck and what not. π
From there, I headed into Bentonville To get those old bank statements that I needed to get to continue working on that portion of my taxes. They didn’t have any trouble finding and printing out the checking account statements, but he couldn’t find any record of my business credit card.
πΆ
He asked another person, and they couldn’t find it either.
I showed them emails that proved that the account existed. And even on my actual checking account statements there were transfers from the checking account to pay off that credit card, but they couldn’t find it.
Gratefully, I had my laptop with me, and gratefully again, I did have some old statements saved In the files on one of my jump drives.
With that old statement, I was able to produce the whole credit card number, because I didn’t have that credit card with me and think I threw it away anyway.
With a full number, they were able to find the records, but only in the statements section of their archives. There was no other record that the account ever even existed other than in the statements section.
The banker was pretty pretty shocked about that And mention he’d be telling that to his co-workers.
I’m just grateful that we were able to find it, as that would have put a damper on my ability to do my taxes accurately for the Haven Hill tree Service portion.
From there, I headed to my my tax home base–Wendy’s. π
I ordered my little biggie bag, wasted a little bit of time watching Britain’s got talent clips of cool stories or whatever, as well as some other stuff, and then Dove in to taxes.
I think I was there for probably 4 hours. The young man working the front now knows me by name. π
Today he was trying out a British accent with the new customers–a man after my own heart.
After 4 hours, or whatever it was, I wasn’t finished with my taxes, but I’m pretty darn close. I’m at the point where I have questions I need to ask my accountants, or I guess I could just put a bunch of notes in the data that I give.
I opted for the former, because I would like to have everything as correct as possible before I send it over. My accountants, in the past, have not been very good about noting down the changes they made to the data that I sent over, despite my requests for their doing that.
Anyway, so I fired off an email to one of my accountants to ask questions, asking for her availability.
One of the things I noticed while going through all my records was That Chase Bank had charged me $221 and change for depositing that large sum of cash last fall.
πΆ
Really?!?!
I didn’t know what the fee was for at first, so I called to figure it out, and they told me that any cash deposit over $5,000 gets charged a fee.
Good gravy. They didn’t tell me that when I was depositing the cash. At least I don’t remember, and I feel like I certainly would have remembered because Dad would have been a pretty sore spot for me because I think that’s an absolutely awful policy. Why on Earth would you fine somebody for adding money to their bank account that you make money on?
Anyway, so I put it on my to-do list to call the bank to get that figured out.
Good gravy.
Headed to my mom’s house because yesterday she invited me to have hooten any pancakes with her for dinner, so I had it on over. She had mentioned she was going to take a nap, so I didn’t want to text before I headed over because I didn’t want to risk waking her up.
On the way over, I gave a friend a call, and we chatted for 20 minutes or so. Once I headed inside at my mom’s place, I did indeed find her asleep. I waited about 5 or 10 minutes, and then I decided to head out, but when I got to the car and was about ready to leave, it seemed a little foolish to leave only to come back a couple of hours later, so I decided to wait To see if she would wake up soon.
I ended up staying there for about an hour to an hour and a half, but she never woke up so I did end up going Back to my little temporary homestead on the hill.
I moved Rover into the shade across the field. I aired up the tires in the mower, added some oil, and decided to do a little bushwhack of the crazy tall grass at the lower pond area.
Made some good progress before getting the mower stuck on too steep of a slope with no traction right next to the pond itself, sliding toward the pond.
π
I got off and tried To pull the mower out with my hands, but the front bumper dealie was so hot that it Would have burned me if I held on to it for more than a split second.
So I gave up on that, headed over to the creek to take a quick bath because I was covered in grass clippings, which means ticks and chiggers.
I started working on consolidating my bins of personal belongings, and I loaded a handful of them into Rover, the ones that are going to stay at my mom’s place for a little while until I find my own place.
I consolidated my bins of memory stuff from three down to two. So that was good. I can do some work consolidating, but it’s going to take some work.
My mom sent me a text sometime around 8:00, I think, and so I decided to head back over in Rover with the bins, as I wanted to get those bins stored where they’re going to be for a while, and I wanted to get gas put in Rover. He’s basically on empty.
My mom made hooten any pancakes, and they were great. π
Thanks, mama. π
I put the bins in the basement against one of the walls. Gratefully, they don’t take up much space.
Chatted with my mom while we ate, and then I headed out and got gas at the neighborhood market.
Gratefully, gas is back below $3. $2.92 at the neighborhood market. 32 gallons later, that means I got 3.5 mi to the gallon.
π
Of course, a fair bit of that is Rover acting as my home and thus, my air conditioner. While I was getting gas at the neighborhood market, I decided to hook up the wires to the generator to see if it would start. Total shot in the dark and unrealistic, and no it didn’t start, but I was happily surprised that it actually started to crank. I turned it off fairly quickly, so it’s possible that it could have started, but I don’t know anything about the condition. Whether it’s even got oil in it, so I didn’t actually spend much time trying to get it started. I was just happily surprised when the engine in the generator started cranking at the push of the button next to the steering wheel.
π₯³
It’s like $4 or $5,000 generator, I think. Would be pretty cool if it actually works. π€
Finished watching John Q.
Time for bed.
I’m sure I’m forgetting something.
Lift the world.
