Definitely grateful to have been able to stay at that rest area overnight. Just makes it simpler.
Not to mention, this rest area was freaking awesome. It was huge. Warm bathrooms. Just… nice.
First stop of the day was in Great Falls, Montana. Last time, we just sort of breezed on through because, as I remember now, the Falls were all basically just dams with the spillways after, So it didn’t seem like something too interesting to go see.
I forgot about that this time, so we drove over to see them, and it was a super super low water time, so the Falls themselves, below each of the dams, just had small bits of water going over.

It was still picturesque, And I’m a supporter, at least as far as I’m educated about it, of electricity creation via hydroelectric stuff. Just wish it didn’t have to be done right next to the beautiful waterfalls that were pre-existing, One of which is now an underwater waterfall because of the backup from one of the hydroelectric dams now covering that falls.
Anyway, we stopped at each of the waterfalls that’s still visible and took in the views.
Then we headed over to one of the two Walmart Supercenters in Great Falls, the one that was closest to our course out of town, and replenished our groceries.
Back on the road, the next stop was Billings, Montana, where we stopped at an AutoZone, bought oil and coolant to replenish the supplies that we had given to Nancy, disposed of the oil from the oil change that we had done in Canada.
Canadian parts stores don’t accept oil like American ones do, so must be challenging for Canadians to do DIY oil changes, or at least, more challenging.
I think we ate dinner at the Wendy’s there. I still had coupons left over from the last Halloween booklet thingy that I bought, so I got my normal biggie bag and then added a kids meal on top of it. That gave me an extra burger, and it gave my Mom some fries to go with the sandwich that she ordered.
So yeah, not much to see in Montana… At least, not that part of Montana. Flat to rolling hills, dead grass prairie kind of thing. Beautiful in its own way, but not my cup of tea.
Found another rest stop along our route that allowed overnight parking, this time in Broadus, Montana.
Thank you, Montana, for your wonderful accommodations! Again, another one with warm bathrooms and what not. Not anywhere near as nice as the first one, but still a welcome place to stay the night.
As we were getting ready to go to bed, we heard owls hooting pretty loudly, and I climbed out of Rover and looked up, and right above Rover, there were two big owls on the parking lot Street lamp thingy. I tried to take pictures, but they were so close to the bright light that the pictures couldn’t capture them.
Oh well.
Another day in the books, and tomorrow, we’ll be in big-head land!
Lift the world.
