2025-02-21 (Friday) — Gym Marathon

A big happy birthday to a member of my Utah peeps!!! 🥰🎉🥳

I had a really hard time falling asleep last night. I just couldn’t shut the brain off. I think I was up until 4:00 or 5:00 something? Woke up around 8:30…

But knowing I was going to have an early day tomorrow, I didn’t want to go back to sleep. Fortunately, my brain woke up pretty quickly, so going back to sleep wasn’t a big issue anyway.

I’m tired now, though. It’s 10:44 p.m. right now as I dictate this.

Just answer work has been super slow the last few days. Sitting around waiting for questions while I’m doing other things isn’t going so well.

Too much competition. Too many other mechanics.

I headed from the regular parking lot sleeping spot into the main Walmart parking lot and did online errands well periodically doing a JustAnswer question here and there.

Somewhere after noonish, I think, I headed over to the gym to work out. I kept doing little questions here and there as they came up, and I started by doing the hydro bed and then working on taxes just a little bit.

It was chest day today. Chest, triceps, and shoulders, now that I finally got some shoulder exercises going.

I was actually super surprised with how it went at the gym today, for a number of reasons. Believe it or not, though I had just barely moved up 22 lb on the cable flies exercise last week, I moved up another 22 lb this week.

I think my form leaves a bit to be desired with the new weight, but it’s feeling pretty good to be making progress.

I also moved up weight on the regular chest press machine and on one of the shoulder exercises, and on the tricep press!

All that after not even eating breakfast.

But I decided I wasn’t done there. I was going to be on Haven Hill all day Saturday, starting early in the morning, and I didn’t really want to head back into town Saturday night just to go to the gym and then go right back to Haven hill, so I figured I would do my leg/ab workout a day early.

So I added the eight exercises of legs and abs that I did day before yesterday, and then I added a third ab exercise–making it a grand total of 15 exercises, three sets of 10 each, with about a 3-minute-ish break in between each set, per what I’ve been learning about maximizing strength gains.

What was amazing to me was that in addition to all the games from my upper body from the day, I ended up moving up in weight on five of the eight regular exercises, as well as adding that 9th exercise for the first time. So I ended up moving up in weight on 9 of the 14 exercises that I’ve been doing prior and then adding that new exercise.

😶

Pretty nutty.

From there I headed up to Haven Hill, picking up some mail from Liz’s place and chatting with Mike for probably 20 or 30 minutes, or longer.

Then I parked the van up by the barn where I’ve been parking it when I stay on the hill on days that it’s too wet to go down to the lower pasture by the creek.

Ate a couple of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to finally finish off my bread and jelly.

Don’t know if I mentioned it, but the replacement power station has the same issue as the first power station, Plus I think it’s got a busted button.

It’s been rather frustrating dealing with Bluetti. If it weren’t for the fact that it can’t function as it’s supposed to in the cold, I’d probably love it.

And the blender that I bought several days ago that’s been delayed… Apparently it’s just simply been lost, so I canceled the shipment and asked them to send a replacement, so hopefully that’ll be out here on monday.

It’s just about 11:00, and I’ve got to be up early to help trim trees and whatnot here on the property, so I’m going to bid y’all a good night.

Gratitude List:

  • I’m grateful to have made the gains that I made with my exercising.
  • I’m grateful that I was able to get myself to at least do some walking. I figured since I was going to be working hard on the hill, I didn’t want to totally exhaust my legs, so I just walked for I think 35ish minutes on the treadmill instead of stair stepping.
  • I’m grateful that I’m almost done getting all my data pulled together for tax stuff. I’m still debating on whether to try and do it myself or not this year. Would be a big stress to do it myself, but I don’t make the kind of money that I used to, so spending $1,000 to have an accountant do my taxes this year is a bit more of a hit. It was always a hit, but takes a lot longer to make $1,000 now.
  • I’m grateful that it’s getting warmer. That’ll make the days a little bit simpler. Tonight’s low I think is going to be maybe 15ish, and it’s just going to go up from here for the next week or so, I think. I think highs are going to be in the 50s, so that’ll be nice.
  • I’m grateful to have warm blankets and to be out of the wind and the wet.
  • I’m grateful that when I jerked my backpack,  which was open at the top, to reposition it on my shoulder, and my laptop came flying out and crashing to the ground, pieces of plastic flying everywhere, that it was only, at least so far it seems, only superficial. Several chunks of plastic off the side of the frame and the side of the frame around the screen, but the screen wasn’t shattered or busted or messed up in any way, and though the laptop case on the bottom was split significantly from one side toward the middle, I just popped it back into place. So it’s definitely looking quite abused, but it appears to be functioning as it should, so though it adds to the number of things that I have that don’t look nice anymore, which is a little bit of a drag, it’s still fully functional. And I’m grateful for that.

Success List:

  • Gym day was a success today, having the mental fortitude to push myself. 🎉
  • When I could have gone to get comfort foods, I didn’t. I just headed right over to Haven Hill, bypassing Pea Ridge all together. Wants the blender comes on monday, assuming it finally makes it, I’ll be ready for my smoothie/juice fast thingy.

Improvement List:

  • Bad language upon frustrating things happening… Still continues.

Loves.

Lift the world.
