2025-03-10 (Monday) — Good Neighbors

(written on the 18th)

Headed over to my mom’s place today around noon. I had arranged to help her with some genealogy stuff yesterday, but with all the burn stuff going on, that… didn’t happen, so we rescheduled for today.

Unfortunately, there really wasn’t much that I had. I thought I remembered taking notes of all sorts of different things. I found old Google sheets and whatnot, but there wasn’t as much information noted down on them as I had thought there was going to be.

So I looked around and looked around on my computer through files and whatnot, but didn’t find much.

I think I did some laundry? I don’t remember anymore. I think so, but I might also just be remembering another day, as I have a whole bunch of dirty clothes from burns, so maybe not.

I went to the gym again. And I went back to Haven Hill again to check on smoldering trees and whatnot. I did that both morning and night, I think.

Not much else I remember at this point.

Bought tickets for Jim and I to go see BYU play Iowa State in Kansas City for the Big 12 men’s basketball tournament. Landon ended up getting a ticket as well, so it’ll be the three of us. 🙂 We didn’t think he would be going because he teaches Junior high, but he wanted to go, so he got a day off. That’ll be Thursday.

Go BYU!!! 🥳

I chatted with an attorney online via JustAnswer to get  a generic commercial lease document to rent the upper pastures that are owned by big Steve.

Hopefully, that’ll help move things forward in the arena of getting the Hill to pay for itself.

I think I spent a little while chatting with neighbor Dan for a bit before heading back to the hill, checking on smoldering stuff, and whatnot. I think I also ate dinner with Jim and Steph and company.

I don’t remember for sure anymore. Busy days.

Oh yeah! Yes, I spent probably 2 hours chatting with Dan and Joe about stuff, and I spent a good little while helping Joe figure out what was wrong with his phone that was keeping him from being able to get audible notifications (he never really ever replies to me when I text, and now I know why. 🙃).

Gratitude:

  • Grateful to have been able to find at least a little bit on the genealogy stuff to help my mom.
  • Grateful to have been able to spend a little bit of time helping Dan try and figure out what was going on with his truck. It’s been overheating, and I think we’ve got it narrowed down to potentially a clogged radiator. My laser thermometer showed 100° drop in temperature from the top vein to a vein five veins down. 🤞
  • Grateful the smoldering trees never did anything other than smolder and put themselves out.
  • Grateful to be able to develop the friendships with my neighbors. I love living out in the country and having country living and country conversations and just… so nice.

Lift the world.
