2025-03-27 (Thursday) — Buzzsaw

The days rule by so quickly, and I’m so far behind in my past journal entries. I generally try to write them in order, but I’ve gotten so far behind that I need to just get the current ones finished so that I at least get some of them done.

I don’t feel like it was a very productive day today. But I guess it was?

Slept in a little bit. Went out and bought 10 gallons of diesel to fill the skid steer. Helped Liz and Rafe fix the flat tire on one of Liz’s mowers.

Went to the neighborhood market in Pea Ridge to buy a toothbrush because I lost mine somewhere.

Headed over to my mom’s place to run some errands for her and for me. I grabbed all of the last of the things that I had been keeping over there–the three spare tires that we had left from our trip last fall, the mattress that we got from my brother in Utah a year and a half ago, all of my storage bins that were sitting in my mom’s basement…

It’s all back on Haven Hill now getting organized in the storage shed down by the greenhouse frame.

Well, it’s all sitting on the ground right now, waiting to be organized in the shed. Once that’s all organized, I’ll feel mostly ready to head out on this next trip.

I also got happy rinsed off at least enough to put the cover on him without grinding in all the dirt that was on it from the last rainstorm followed by dust storm.

Got my mom’s car battery charged up and the battery disconnected, so she will have a car with a fully charged battery when she gets home.

Did a few loads of laundry to try and be ready for this upcoming trip, though I didn’t get a chance to get all the clothes and bedding dry before I had to leave the house.

Got everything unloaded onto the ground next to the shed. Filled up the skid steer with the diesel fuel I bought.

Then it was time to head over to Jim and Steph’s place for dinner and the BYU game.

Brought my little air compressor / tire pump over to Stevie so he could fill up his tire.

Poor BYU 😅

They got absolutely smoked by a team that was hotter than any other team in NCAA history. Alabama made 25 3-pointers.

😶

It wasn’t the BYU played badly, even though they lost by 25 points. They actually only scored one field goal fewer than Alabama did. It’s just the BYU couldn’t hit their threes worth a darn, and Alabama took more than 50.

BYU kept it pretty darn close, even getting within seven points in the second half before Alabama just blew their socks off.

Brutal game for byu, but perhaps they can consult themselves in the fact that I don’t think a single team in the country could have beaten Alabama tonight. And it wasn’t that they were just making wide open shots. They were making their shots from 25 to 30 feet out. Crazy distances, and they aren’t even that great of a three-point shooting team, but they were red hot tonight.

Not much you can do when you run into a buzzsaw.

Helped Liz figure out her mower during halftime of the buzz saw experience.

Started watching part of the Arkansas Texas tech game but ran out of steam and decided to head out for the night.

Headed over to the neighborhood market in Pea Ridge for some… uh… comfort food. 😅

Watched a show on Prime. Organized Rover a little bit, and here I am parked down at the creek. Just ticked past midnight.

Gratitude:

  • I’m grateful that I wasn’t too disappointed in BYU’s loss. I would have liked to have had the score be more respectable than an absolute torching, but BYU made it to the Sweet 16, and they actually played really well, other than the fact that they couldn’t hit their three pointers to save their lives today.
  • I’m grateful I was able to get all my junk out of my mom’s place and get that out of her hair.
  • I’m grateful that I was able to fit everything that it was at my mom’s place in Rover despite the fact that I had forgotten to take out stuff in order to make room for all the stuff I was going to be loading up.
  • I’m grateful to have my Haven Hill family here who cares about me. It’s nice.
  • I’m grateful for this beautiful place.

Success:

  • I can’t really think of any successes today, at least not in the areas in which I’ve been trying to improve. 😕

Improvement:

  • Language 😕
  • Comfort food 😕

Lift the world.
