(written on the 18th)
Not really much to say about today. Woke up, went over to the Walmart I think again and napped.
Spent the entire day up at the Bridalveil Falls overlook parking lot.
Mostly wasted time. Spent some time working. Spent a couple hours, or so, playing my guitar while staring at the waterfall.
Chatted with one of my sisters for a good little while.
From there I headed down the canyon, dumped some trash at the dumpster at Canyon View Park, I think it is, and then headed on down the canyon.
Unfortunately, just as I was turning on to 8th North to head into orem, my exhaust fell and started dragging on the ground.
I spent the next probably hour and a half or two hours? Trying to figure out what to do, eventually just getting my grinder and cutting everything apart. I think I ended up cutting the exhaust into three or four pieces to get it off the van and apart.
I was hoping to be able to reuse parts of it, the muffler and the rest of the exhaust, but it pretty much all got ruined in the efforts to take it off and get it apart.
I think I did verify that the issue indeed was the downstream catalytic converter, which I had originally thought from the beginning but doubted when my laser thermometer found such a huge difference between the two upstream catalytic converters.
The downstream catalytic converter was full of catalytic converter dust and broken pieces and whatnot. I think there was maybe only a third of the honeycomb material left inside, and it was loose inside.
Hopefully I didn’t breathe in too much of the likely super carcinogenic chemicals. 😅
Police officer stopped to see what all was going on, as I had my hazard lights on and was pulled into a parking lot right there before the base of the canyon, just to the side of the gas station that’s there. I told her what happened, and that I was mostly wrapping up.
I actually ended up staying quite a bit longer trying to get the pieces that I had removed in usable condition to try to reattach tomorrow.
Lots of banging, pounding, grinding…
By the time I was done and leaving, the officer having done a drive-thru a second time, I was filthy and decided to head over to the Planet Fitness in Orem, where I filled up my water bottles, took a shower, and then stayed the night at the Maverick on 8th North in Orem by State Street.
Gratitude:
- I’m grateful to be making a little more money this week after being bumped back up. I haven’t worked much, so they might bump me right back down, but at this point, I almost don’t even care anymore.
- I’m grateful to be able to play the guitar a little bit. I’m pretty bad at it, actually, but at least I can play a little bit and enjoy the little bit that I play.
- I’m grateful to have been able to fill up my water and get a shower.
- I’m sick. I have a cold that’s all just in my head right now, nothing in my lungs. Just a sore throat, and sinus congestion and whatnot. Oh, wait, that’s not gratitude. 😅 Let’s see… uh… I’m grateful to have places to be able to dump my trash. There’s not a lot of it, but I’m still grateful to be able to have places to dump it.
Success:
- ? 😅
Improvement:
- Want to get moving. So much wasted life because of my inability to stay motivated in life after the last decade+ of experiences.
Lift the world.
