2025-07-03 (Thursday) — Still At It

Okay, so I’m kind of going backwards in my getting to bed on time. 😅

I was steadily working in the right direction, but the last few days…

Not so much. 🙃

It’s coming up on 11:00, and I’m still journal writing.

Oops.

Because I’ve been getting to bed late, I’ve been sleeping in as well. I didn’t get up for good until about 8:00 this morning. 😶

Did some morning routine stuff, chatted with the Big Guy for a bit.

Spent the morning working on septic stuff. Been super slow going. Lots of newbie mistakes making things take so much longer than they should, but… we’re newbies, so… it’s part of the process. 🙃

Hot day today. Upper 90s. I think the high was supposed to be 97 or 98? Took a break to cool off with Hans. I eat breakfast, and we chatted for a bit before heading back out to work again.

We were back at it until probably around 3:30ish? Being thursday, I wanted to answer a pretty decent number of questions online, so as not to get myself demoted, but I didn’t start until way late in the day. I tried to answer some questions while I was working, but it just doesn’t go well. Even though starlink says I’ve got great signal, I just don’t get very many questions actually popping through unless I’m inside the trailer using Heather and Hans’s internet.

🤷

I can do whatever I need to do online with Starlink–stream video, do whatever I need to except JustAnswer stuff. I just don’t have very many questions even pop up is available, whereas when I’m in the trailer, questions pop up on a pretty regular basis.

It could also be that it’s the time of day. Generally, there are many fewer available questions during the day, and the number of available questions seems to increase fairly significantly after the regular work day is over. I assume probably because the regular mechanics knock off about knockoff time, and I keep going.

So who knows. Maybe it’s not the internet, but it certainly does seem like every time I try and just work outside accepting whatever questions come whenever they come, I don’t get anywhere near as many questions available as I do if I’m just sitting still in the trailer.

Oh well. I make enough money to support my needs. I don’t have anybody else to support right now, so I can use my time to serve.

Chatted with Heather and Hans for a bit, and Heather made us all fruit smoothies, chatted a bit more until Heather went off to grab us food from a local fast-food place, and I went out to throw the ball for Zora and to let the horses outside their normal area, one at a time for about 15 minutes each, so they could munch on the grass they love so much that’s outside there normal pasture area.

I answered a few more questions late, and we ate dinner and chatted a bit more, and now here I am, now after 11:00. 😅

Why does it take so long to write out a journal entry? 🙃

I’m even dictating.

Gratitude:

  • I’m grateful that it was a windy day for a decent chunk of the day, so that helped to temper the oven that it was out there.
  • I’m grateful that it’s generally dry heat. I don’t know how I survived it out there in the south for so many years.
  • I’m grateful that the rental company still hasn’t come to pick up the backup. Given that it’s a holiday tomorrow, they probably won’t come to pick it up until next week! We’re on an hour’s restriction, I think, so that part of it doesn’t matter, but we still have I think maybe 6 hours left of machine time, so it’s been really nice to be able to keep using it. I think we’ve had it for nearly 3 weeks? And we’ve only had to pay for one week worth of rental. They just… Haven’t come to get it. 🙏
  • I’m grateful that the horses didn’t do anything dumb when I decided to test out whether or not I could let them outside the regular area while not holding on to their halter. I put the halter on, led them out one at a time, and then just set the rope over their backs and let them graze. Worked great! So much easier than having to hold on to the rope the entire time. I just sat on the ground and petted Zora and did to-do stuff on my phone.
  • I’m grateful once again for my little fan in Rover that makes it not too bad to fall asleep in a van that’s been baking in near 100° heat all day. 🙏

Success:

  • I think I was decently able to let yesterday be yesterday and have a much better day today. 😊

Improvement:

  • I let myself get frustrated multiple times trying to use the backhoe to do things that it’s not really well built for, namely, trying to scoop up piles of dirt off of grass without digging into the grass. I’ve been trying to preserve as much grass as possible, but with heavy equipment going everywhere, it’s packing down the grass from the top, and when I try and scoop up piles, it generally either rides up the pile and just packs it down more, or it digs in, and because you’re so high up, you can’t see the bottom of the bucket, so you can’t see if it’s digging up more than it should, and I pretty much continually dig up more than I should. It either rides it up like a ramp, or it digs too deeply. 😕

Thought of the Day:

😶

😅

😬

Hand of God In My Life Today:

Honestly, I’m amazed at where my sobriety is right now and the challenges that I haven’t had to deal with that I have always had to in the past.

Loves 😊

Lift the world.

Bring it on.
